Meeks:
25.4 points per game, 1.6 assists per game, 3.6 rebounds per game, 0.1 blocks per game, 1.4 steals per game
#4 in the country in scoring
939 minutes played in 27 games. 34.78 minutes per game. 685 total points for 0.73 points per minute played.
Marcus:
20.5 points per game, 2 assists per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 0.4 blocks per game, 1.7 steals per game
#21 in the country in scoring
829 minutes played in 28 games. 29.61 minutes per game. 585 total points for 0.71 points per minute played.
Marcus gets more done with less.

Thornton gets the slight edge to me based on rebounding, but I guarantee Meeks wins POY for the SEC

I would think would look at record in conference and all....but maybe not.
But Meeks prob. gets it because Kentucky seems to be on national tv every week...more exposure

Starting to think Marcus may be a better pro. Marcus has the grit and determination to make it and I think the next few weeks will be his coming out party to the nation, jus like Meeks had. Sat. game is huge for Thornton to improve his NBA stock.

How sweet would it be if he gets his 40 pointer, lsu crushed kentucky, and meeks goes like 4-20 with like 12 points.

Meeks has been outstanding this year but MT has played his best in the games that count most this season. I would not trade him for JM. Also would not trade TMitch for any forwards in the league. His presence in the middle caused BD to employ that junk zone last night , allowing a ton of looks from outside as well as driving lanes for Bo and MT. Can't say it was a bad plan though. Rule of thumb you should try to shut down the dominant post player and gamble on the guards beating you.

It'll be decided this weekend. There can be only one...

Sat two rows behind a couple of professional scouts last night. Certainly couldn't read their notes but they took a lot of them.

One should also consider the number of attempts per game and the shooting percentage. But I don't feel like looking them up.

Marcus is up to 20.9 after last night. I'm guessing that Meeks will be hard pressed to shake Mr. Temple come Saturday.

Jodie- does she play for the women's team?

We'll see when they play again, especially if LSU meets UK in the SEC tourney. That would give us three games to look at.

Jodie Meeks has unquestionably had the better season from an individual standpoint.
Talent wise, they aren't that far apart. In terms of value, they are about the same.
I like both guys, but Meeks is a bit better.

You guys need to take your LSU glasses off for this one.
Thornton is a very, very poor man's version of Jodie Meeks. I've watched both guys play 5+ times this year. Defenses don't gameplan to stop Thornton...I mean the entire defensive gameplan. That's what defenses do to Meeks and he still gets his average.
Meeks is faster
Meeks is quicker
Meeks is stronger
Meeks is better conditioned
Meeks is a better shooter
Meeks is a better free throw shooter
Meeks is a better defender
There's a reason Meeks is the better pro prospect and it's not because of the attention he gets.
If you haven't had a chance to watch Meeks play much this year, you are in for a treat on Saturday. You will not see another guy work as hard as he does for the entire game. Everything he does is a full sprint. He's really a pleasure to watch.

ok now i'm tired of all this meeks praise. Jodie is good, but hell besides Patterson, they have nobody. Meeks has to shoot all the time jus for them to be competitive. Thornton plays on a more balanced team and doesn't have to be "Kobe" every night. If Marcus played for Kentucky, we'd be talking about Marcus for national Player of the Year honors. Mark my words, Jodie will get drafted higher, but Marcus will have a better career. The dude is a frickin stud and the country will see in the tournament. frick it, if he gets stupid hot, we are in the Final Four. I said it, I got that much confidence in that dude and he hasn't let me down all year. To me, he is the best shooter in the nation and yeah Curry's good but Marcus has been the most consistent scorer against decent competition all year. If it was up to me marcus is a top ten pick.

Frick Jodie, Marcus 4 life. If he had came as a freshman, he might get consideration for All-Century team, hell I would still put him on it with only two years. Marcus will kill Kentucky and Jodie will get shut down by the praying mantis (G. Temp.) and then we'll see what life will be like for lil Jodie in the NBA!

Allrighty then, now that your post is fixed, a couple of minor points. MT has a higher FG percentage. Also better at rebounds, assists, blocks, steals, assist/t.o. And last but not least, check out NBAdraft.net. Look at the consensus Mock draft board for '09. Yeah, that's MT listed in the middle of the second round. Nope JM is not listed there. Granted I believe that JM will be drafted and he is listed as a middle second-rounder on recent boards I've looked at, just as MT has been all year. The fact is that the consensus of NBA people disputes your farcical post. Thanks for the layup.
