re: Game on Xbox Live question

Posted by Bachus on 9/15/12 at 5:32 pm to
ESPN support says that the game will show up before kickoff and assured me that the game is not blacked out in Texas.

I'm afraid that something is telling the system that I'm still back in BR and that's why the game isn't showing up. *grumble*

Is the game showing up on the schedule on the Xbox? I'm north of Houston and the game isn't showing up at all. It's not supposed to be blacked out here.

Rank - SOS
1 - 117 - Ohio State
2 - 39 - Oregon
3 - 28 - Boise State
4 - 56 - TCU
5 - 76 - Nebraska
6 - 15 - Oklahoma
7 - 74 - Auburn
8 - 27 - Alabama
9 - 20 - LSU
10 - 24 - South Carolina
11 - 136 - Utah
12 - 66 - Arkansas
13 - 95 - Michigan State
14 - 14 - Stanford
15 - 111 - Iowa
16 - 45 - Florida State
17 - 16 - Arizona
18 - 116 - Wisconsin
19 - 78 - Nevada
20 - 118 - Oklahoma State
21 - 84 - Missouri
22 - 34 - Florida
23 - 90 - Air Force
24 - 1 - Oregon State
25 - 105 - West Virginia

LSU has a stronger strength of schedule than everyone in the AP Top 25 except for Oregon St, Arizona, Stanford, and Oklahoma. The three PAC-10 schools each have at least one loss, and OK has played one less game. If you want to invoke the SOS argument, LSU should be ranked #1. Sagarin has us favored in every game remaining on the schedule, including Alabama.

So my question to you is: Do you strive to also be an idiot because being a douchebag is not fulfilling enough?

Lunardi has LSU vs Ohio St in the 8-9 game in Greensboro with both staying steady at those seeds. Granted, it's still early but he's usually pretty dead on.

The most recent Lunardi bracket was actually a mock seeding by several ESPN people using results given by the NCAA (had Florida winning the SEC tourney for instance). In the last Lunardi-only bracket we were a #7.

The Bracket Matrix has us averaging a 6 seed out of 55 brackets, with a range of 5-8.

We're not getting a 2 or 3 seed. Period. Everyone will be a lot happier on selection day if they stop deluding themselves.
Crashing the Dance has distances for all the schools to all the pod/region sites.

319 miles to Memphis. Kansas City is the closest pod at 637 miles, Miami second at 737 miles.

There isn't a chance in hell of a 2 seed. A 3 seed is an extreme long shot even at 30-4. Our SOS and non-conference resume *blows*. Period.

Compare to teams with similar resumes last year.

Wisconsin: 11 RPI, 29-4 record, Won Big-10, #61 SOS, 6-4 vs Top 50 RPI. Received a 3 seed.

Butler: 17 RPI, 29-3 record, Won Horizon League, #128 SOS, 1-1 vs Top 50 RPI. Received a 7 seed.

Kent State: 22 RPI, 28-6 record, Won MAC, #111 SOS, 2-2 vs Top 50 RPI. Received a 9 seed.

LSU right now:
- 31 RPI
- SOS 0.5287 - #103 in country
- Non-conference SOS .2870 - #323 (out of 341!)
- 3 and 3 vs Top 50 RPI

We don't have a Top 50 team remaining on our schedule. We can probably get our RPI into the teens, but the committee looks at a whole lot more than just rankings or RPI, and we don't have it. Our resume was a lot better in 2006 (13 RPI, 13 SOS, 25 non-conf SOS, 5-6 vs Top 50), and we only got a 4 seed.
KY is on a 17 year NCAA Tourney streak. One of the longer streaks in the country.

what was our seed back in 06?

2006 (entering tournament):

- 22 and 8 record
- 4 Seed
- 13 RPI
- SOS 0.5850 - #13 in country
- Non-conference SOS .7704 - #25
- 5 and 6 vs Top 50 RPI
- 4 and 2 vs 51-100 RPI
- 8 and 6 on the road/neutral

Today:

- 24 and 4 record
- 31 RPI
- SOS 0.5287 - #103 in country
- Non-conference SOS .2870 - #323
- 3 and 3 vs Top 50 RPI
- 5 and 0 vs 51-100 RPI
- 5 and 3 on the road/neutral

If we win out I can see another 4 seed as a possibility, but not a 3 seed. The SOS and non-conference resume just isn't there.
If we won out with winning the SEC tourney I'd guess that we would get a 4 or 5 seed. The long win streak and conference championship would be a big plus, but SOS/RPI would still be weak, with few wins against the Top 50 RPI.

but our highlights werent even on sportscenter last night!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, but the FL game was on Sportscenter an hour ago. They even had a nifty "Under the Radar" graphic with a few facts (win streak, SEC record, etc).

I am wondering if the SEC rep on the selection committee will fight for a high seed for LSU in order to give the SEC a good chance at advancing in the bracket. I know LSU still has a few games to play, but if you were putting the bracket together RIGHT NOW - LSU should get at least a 4 seed, meaning we'd be in the Sweet 16 before playing the a higher seed.

You're not allowed to vote on any team you're connected to. Literally, the computer you vote on won't even display your team. And you have to leave the room when any team you're connected to is being discussed. It's as impartial as it can possibly be.

If the selection was today we don't even sniff a 4 seed.

We're averaging a 6 seed among 54 brackets, with most of the major ones giving us a 7.

Marcus Thornton vs Jodie Meeks

Posted by Bachus on 2/25/09 at 11:44 am
Meeks:

25.4 points per game, 1.6 assists per game, 3.6 rebounds per game, 0.1 blocks per game, 1.4 steals per game

#4 in the country in scoring

939 minutes played in 27 games. 34.78 minutes per game. 685 total points for 0.73 points per minute played.

Marcus:

20.5 points per game, 2 assists per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, 0.4 blocks per game, 1.7 steals per game

#21 in the country in scoring

829 minutes played in 28 games. 29.61 minutes per game. 585 total points for 0.71 points per minute played.

Marcus gets more done with less.
I came in late. What was Hanagriff talking about a few minutes ago? Someone brought something up at an SEC meeting and they told him to shut up and never bring it up again?
When was the last time we won at Auburn and at Florida in the same year? Has it ever happened?

...

Actually, screw it. I'll look it up myself.

...

It's never happened before. In fact, prior to the Les Miles era we only beat them both in the same year three times (a lot of that because we so rarely played Auburn before going to 12 teams).

1980 - Beat AU 21-17 in BR, Beat FL 24-7 in Gainesville
1973 - Beat AU 20-6 in Auburn, Beat FL 24-3 in BR
1937 - Beat AU 9-7 in BR, Beat FL 19-0 in BR

Time for Miles to set a new LSU first.
