I'm realizing something... This sudden wave of “conservatives turning on Trump” online is not really about principle. It’s about money. A lot of these people have spent 10 years in the pro-Trump lane, and at this point there is only so much engagement left in posting the same old “Trump was right” or “look how great he’s doing” message. That gets applause from your own side, but it does not create a firestorm. There's only so much a Leo Terrell post praising Trump is going to generate. But turn on him? Now we're talking.

The minute you pivot and start posting that Trump is betraying the movement, selling out America First, or losing his way, the entire machine lights up. Now you get angry Trump supporters flooding your replies, anti-Trump people boosting you, YouTube channels reacting to you, clips spreading on X, and endless quote-post rage. I saw a story on Axios recently where they described a major MAGA media “unraveling” over Trump and Iran, with names like Tucker Carlson and Megyn Kelly in the middle of it, and AP also noted prominent right-wing figures publicly rebuking Trump over the issue. This is not random background noise. It's become a financial vehicle for a lot of these people.

And the platforms themselves reward exactly this kind of behavior. X’s own creator revenue system says it pays based in part on engagement and “meaningful interactions,” which is basically corporate language for stirring conversation and getting people to react. Basically - outrage performs. So when these personalities suddenly discover that criticizing Trump gets ten times the attention of defending him, I do not think we are watching a moral awakening. I think we're watching people follow incentives.

That's why I think so much of this is financially motivated. Pro-Trump posting has a ceiling. Anti-Trump posting from the right has almost unlimited rage potential, and rage is the most valuable currency on the internet. The more betrayed, dramatic, and outraged they sound, the more replies, shares, clips, and reaction content they generate. In other words, this is not some organic mass awakening. It is a business model.

It's way too coincidental to be real. But it continues to highlight just how whorish the "conservative" side is. I don't believe the hype and you shouldn't either.

Probably because most people think that is in fact the reality of the situation

It sells because people agree that this is the case

I don't agree with you on much, but this is the exact case amongst most people I know, including myself.

Tucker didn’t turn on Trump. Tucker turned on Israel. If you look back you’ll see Ben Shapiro has been seething with anger over Tucker since the Gaza conflict started.

The idea Tucker rose to fame because he turned on Trump isn’t based in reality.

I agree they're making money off their about face... but I don't agree with the above statement.

The left has maintained the same playbook forever and it's working fine for them.

Additionally, it takes at least some amount of principle to pull off such an about face. Whether we think they're right or wrong. You rarely see leftists criticize their own because they have zero principle or standards.

Or..............

You could just be an idiot, defending a fool? That is an option for yourself that you may want to consider.

Totally wrong. Disagreement will ALWAYS get more reaction than agreement does.

Every. Single. Time.

It sells because there is a huge portion of weak-minded and morally corrupt people out there whose only desire is to find 'something - anything - true or false' that is detrimental to Trump.

Sucks to be you.

Anyone who takes that step is volunteering to be kicked out of their position and having their private lives ruined - or at least find no funding for their next election.
