He's still neurotic and was able to hide his teenage daughter from his parents

Dewey and Hal made the show

I watched 10 minutes of it. It's horrible and all over the place.

I mean it’s not great but I’m still enjoying it.

There’s some woke stuff, but the writing is fantastic. Multiple laugh out loud moments in the first couple episodes. It feels like the writers really understood the original show’s characters extremely well.

You are literally the only person I have seen on the internet with a remotely positive review.
Everything I have seen pretty much says Disney took the corpse of Malcolm in the Middle, dragged it into an alleyway and gang raped it. That was an actual quote from one review.

There are two woke things in this miniseries:
The youngest kid in the family is a non-binary teen (cis woman).
Stevie is gay.
Neither has much impact on the plot. It also includes Malcom trying to be performatively PC to avoid scrutiny and manipulate people.
Dewey not being involved much is a little bit of a bummer, but the actor does okay with limited screen time.
However, the main cast (Malcom, Rees, Francis, Piama, Lois, and Hal) are all fantastic. They all really seem like how they should be personality wise after a time skip.

Agreed. Is it incredible? No but it has been fun to revisit this family. Easy watching.

I was kind of hoping Malcolm's baby mama was someone we had already met not some fugly chick he knocked up in college

he's not only gay but he has those earrings that circle his ear. He also has a white partner. You just have to sit back and laugh sometimes.

not like it's that far a stretch that Stevie is gay
