ESPN Mock Draft
ESPN did a 3 round mock draft with Mel Kiper Jr., Matt Miller, Jordan Reid and Field Yates taking turns making picks.
No surprise, they went to commercial right before the Saints pick and glossed over it when they came back. But I took some screen shots of who was taken.
Saints Picks:
8. Sonny Styles
42. Colton Hood
73. Chris Bell
Not gonna lie…that would be a homerun IMO!
Some interesting notes:
Bain fell to 12 and wasn’t even a real consideration until Kansas City. And they didn’t think he fit well with the cowboys, but they felt he was a value there.
They said the Cowboys need a pass rusher and might be a team that tries to move up to get a guy like Reese or Bailey.
They talked about Ty Simpson a little and said he didn’t have enough starts to move up to get him and said next years QB class is stronger.
Kiper went on about Sheduer Sanders and Miller was pretty dismissive and said he’d buy him a drink if he was the starter the entire season.
I was surprised Bell fell to the third.
They said Proctor was a very polarizing prospect. Great traits with some good and bad film.

Mels got to be right one year lol

I’d actually pay for that to unfold but I just don’t see Bell falling that far

Who is the odd man out if they draft Sonny?
Posted on 4/2/26 at 4:09 pm to MaxxPain2
Werner obviously but they may just keep 4 and have Elliss up on the LOS playing more OLB/Edge, leaving Stutsman and Styles in the middle and Werner as a backup

Styles is such a freak athlete that you find a place for him

It would make getting a true NT a priority, but I think you could play them all in a true 3-4 scheme. Styles and Ellis are athletic enough to rush and drop into coverage. Then when Warner gets hurt you move Styles back there and bring in a nickel back.
OH YEAH! They also mentioned several teams that were moving to a 3-4 defensive scheme and that’s why pass rushers would be at a premium this year.

JFC Mel, let it go already. I'm sure the check cleared a long time ago.

I wonder what his justification for Bell falling that far was, it seems his rehab is going well. I don't think there is another receiver in this draft with his size and speed. I'd be ecstatic if we went Styles, Bell, Dunker. It's too much to expect to get Bell in the 3rd

There’s quite a few WRs most people seem to have ranked around the same area as Bell.. depending on how some teams have them ranked, Bell could fall a bit more than we think. Guys like Antonio Williams, Malachi Fields or Zach Branch could have some teams graded higher than Bell… but just takes 1 team to take him, so I’d rather go get our guy at 42.

i'd love this draft, but i don't see Bell dropping to the 3rd round... would rather us get him in the 2nd, and go G in the 3rd

Exactly, I just see no way he lasts to the 3rd, I'd rather go get Bell in the 2nd and take BPA in the 3rd out of OL, DB, DL,

I just don’t think Styles will fall. I’m about as sure of that as Love not falling to 8. I think if anyone falls it will be Bain.
Regardless, sign me up for CB in Round 2 as long as they don’t go Delane or Downs in Round 1. I’m really liking some of the CB prospects in that early second range. Keionte Scott, Colton Hood, Chris Johnson - all of whom have inside or outside flexibility.
So I’d prefer 8 to be WR or Edge.
I’d be more than happy waiting on WR until the 3rd round if they could come away with Bailey/Bain in the 1st (maybe Tate or Lemon) and then Hood/Johnson in the 2nd.
