We have had a few from here do it before and many of us find someone to follow every year. With many thru-hikers starting April 1 each year, just seeing who is out there that is on this board or someone we know.

Really regret not thru hiking it when I was younger and didn't have responsibilities.
I've got about 110 miles in or so, from the southern terminus to Fontana Dam. Maybe I'll pick back up there when I retire

As a former thru-hiker, I would recommend not starting again at the Smokies. You need a good month of on-trail conditioning before the Smokies will be even moderately enjoyable. You will hate yourself if you do this. Maybe start up north and head south toward the Smokies, or start from Springer again.

I’m doing my annual vicarious hike through YouTubers.
The only one I watch consistently this year has been Coats Adventures. They’re a married couple early 40’s who live in Louisiana. The husband is from LA but I can’t detect any kind of accent I recognize. The problem with the Coats is I like watching hikers who face challenges and they are very seasoned hikers so no hurdles yet.

One of the guys in my office retired in February and started the next week. I'll have to check his progress but he's still out there

I cant find one this year yet that I really like. The Heard Hiker a couple years ago may have been my favorite. Kelly Hays Hikes also was good. Tried to watch the two guys from LA last year but they got so chaotic then split up I just ended up not watching after a while.

He's had to deal with some really brutal winter storms. If he is still out there he has a great shot to make it if he doesn't get hurt

Former thru-hiker myself. You still get back to the trail any? If I have to travel anywhere near the trail I try to spend a few extra days to get some miles in.

I was a section hiker when I lived in East Tennessee. I had young kids, so a thru-hike was never an option, but my multi-day hikes were so nice. I miss those days!
