I can't tell if this will be boring or good.

Looks promising.

I'm also getting some As Above, So Below vibes.

Since it's A24, I'm curious to see if they'll be able to pull off the third act/ending, since most A24 horror movies seems to stumble there.

I'm sure I'll check it out since I'm a big fan of liminal spaces-type games and other media.

I've seen most of the backroom movies. They're pretty good. It would be weird watching with other people though.

I went down that youtube rabbit hole after seeing the teaser thread, and I really enjoyed them a lot. I thought they were really well done for what they were.

I also think the simplistic, "boring" aspect of it is one thing that makes them so entertaining and compelling. I'm not sure how well that will translate into a feature length movie, but I will definitely check it out and see though.

And I agree that I expect this to be great for 90% of the movie and then suck in the last 10%, as per A24 requirements.

If they're smart they will use that model, which the shorts seems like they're sort of based on anyway, even if indirectly. It also gives off a little bit of a Severance vibe, but that's more due to the layout of their work building and the seemingly randomness of it.

Either way, I think this could be really good if they play it right.

Looks like it will be better than Vivarium, not that my comment means much or is a high bar.

You should watch his series called "the oldest view" it's kinda like the backrooms but set in an abandoned mall

I saw the couple of videos he had about that. I assume that’s the one where the dude finds the hole in middle of the woods out in BFE and there’s hundreds of stairs that descend and at the end is a legit mall from the 80s/90s, and there is the huge pumpkin head monster thing on wheels? I liked that one.

Yeah that's the one

It still blows my mind that they were all digitally animated by some 16 year old kid in his room

Agreed. And the way he filmed them (or created them) where they look like they were filmed on a handheld video camera from the 90s really fits for this kind of format, as well as the material. The low-budgetness of it really works. So one concern I have is that translating into 2026-level cinema, so hopefully it does. If that makes sense.

I also love that it’s such a simple idea, and even though there are “monsters” so to speak (the speaker head thing, the pumpkin wheelie thing in the mall, etc.), the mundaneness and endlessness of the office building stuff is legit creepy in itself. Like you could have zero “bad guys” and it would still be fairly scary/creepy to just be stuck in an endless world like that. I thought that was really cool. I also did semi enjoy the corporate aspect of it as well, since if something like that did exist obviously some company would try to profit on it and commercialize it. And of course they were both oblivious to the danger of it or ignored it since it was an obstacle to their goals.

Honestly, the backroom designs in the youtube series looked better imo.

Damn liminal spaces creep me out. I don't know if I want to watch this movie. There is a long long hallway I come through in the morning at work. Very creepy.
