I firmly believe this is the new hot rivalry in the SEC.

Look at each HC’s path and their similarities. To the naked eye people will say “but Texas has more resources”. I’m not so sure that gap is as wide as we think.

Texas has money for sure. Texas has recruiting hot beds all around them for sure. But Texas also has several major teams coming in poaching talent. Just look at the SEC alone, OU LSU A&M and to a lesser extent bama have all kept elite Texas talent from Austin.

LSU has a treasure chest. They have the pro pedigree. They’ve proven that they deserve a seat at the table. Texas is a threat no doubt but still hasn’t put it all together after all these years. Look at their pro draft results since Mack left. It’s pathetic.

All that said, the two coaches have similar histories, programs both view themselves as top tier and we are neighbors. Not saying it’ll get ugly like Bama but it’s got some major potential to heat up!

Does the same not apply to Louisiana's elite talent?

Sark is a fraud.

He has this reputation of being an offensive savant while Texass’ offense wasn’t even in the top half of the SEC in 2025.

Screen pass, screen pass, wheel route.

That’s Sark’s offense.

I think it’s the UGA LSU show for as long as we have Kiffin imo.

It’s much harder to get elite talent out of Louisiana than it is to get them out of Texas. Especially Houston or Dallas.

Kids in Louisiana are born and bred as LSU fans it’s engrained in them. Not quite the same in Texas. That pride isn’t there at all.

Sure there’s some but it’s not like Louisiana kids with LSU

LSU got the better of the Stark / Kiffin connection. 10 - 15 years ago I would have thought different, but now I really believe Kiffin has grown into a top 5 college coach whereas now i have my doubts about (cowboy hat ) Stark

I dont know how much longer Sarkisian will be at Texas. Was floated around this year that he was interested in making the jump back to NFL.

Yes, but not relevant to the main point the OP was making.

The way I see it is Kirby and Lane are Saban’s favorite two sons. Kirby is like the son that can do no wrong, Kiffin is the frick up in HS and college but has the most potential which is what frustrated Saban so much and now he’s realizing his potential and Saban is proud of both, but Kiffin is the slight favorite of Saban’s. Sark is the step son that he doesn’t really give a shite about.

Absolutely incorrect.

Kirby was by sabans side for a very long time. Much longer than Kiffin

Kiffin just worships Saban publicly

Set the tone for it this year because it’s their best team for a while

Saban would have told Kiffin to stay at Ole Miss if he didn’t believe he could be great.

Nobody understands LSU pressure better than Saban
