This team really isn’t that bad.

We’ve got some issues with consistency in our starting pitching, but the talent is there.

Bats came alive twice this weekend.

Our aggregate score against SEC teams is probably pretty darned balanced.

Let’s see if we can keep improving.

Hell our catchers made some plays this weekend.

For the record, I agree with you. They aren't bad. They just aren't good...yet. But i trust Jay to figure it out and teams are allowed to improve.

The next 2 series are rough. If we win 3 games over the next 2 that would be an accomplishment in my book.

Tenner will be the most winnable series in the sec we’ve played thus far as well. Time to get hot

Fairweather fans are supposedly not going to watch any longer. I think they are going to miss an interesting season, win or lose

Jay said it best in his post game. Exactly what you eluded to with not being there yet but we're starting to see what we could be when we clean some things up.

They need to win close games.

We're 4-5 in conference. We're extremely close to being 7-2 in conference.

Vandy G1 - Brown "foul" ball
Vandy G2 - Blowout L
Vandy G3 - Blowout W

OU G1 - Blowout W
OU G2 - 2 run loss, nothing bounced our way
OU G3 - Ruckert error in the 9th.

UK G1 - 3 run loss, when Dardar was a collective foot away from 3 more RBI and 2HR
UK G2 - Blowout W
UK G3 - Blowout W

We haven't had a single conference win where you could sit there and say "yeah, we didn't deserve that one" or "we were one play from losing that game"

On the flip side, you could say that for 4 of the 5 conference losses.

It feels like some pieces are starting to finally settle in (Pearson 3B, Dardar 2B, Serna in the lineup everyday, Stanfield back, Braun starting to take over DH against RHP). Need Moore back soon. Keep the rotation as is otherwise. Need someone to take DH vs LHP. Ideally that's Simpson or Serna with Arrambide behind the plate.

I'm an optimist but I feel as though we have the pieces. They just need to learn how to fit.

I mean not really? They're the two worst teams we've played in conference to date.

I get they're on the road, but the only worse team we'll see in conference after these two is USCe.

We are so close. This sort of reminds me of the ‘08 team.

When’s the last time LSU won a road series at Tennessee?

Looked at the standings and not so much. Tigers need to take the next two series.

When's the last time we went to Tennessee with a better team than Tennessee? Certainly not '21 or '24.

We went there in '18 with a pretty shitty team and swept them.

ETA: I understand what you're saying, but I just don't revere them as a top program since Tony bolted. Ellander is floundering.

Still have a gigantic issue at the catcher giving free bases galore. They can't throw anyone out, and they let way too many balls get by. With the amount of walks, steals, and mistakes opponents have gotten way too many free bases and runs.

I think the teams are pretty evenly matched. Expecting LSU to take both series on the road seems totally unrealistic and just setting yourself up for disappointment.

I think it's what the team is capable of, especially if they have Moore for at least one weekend.

No Moore, my answer probably changes.

The potential is there as it always has been. The bats are inconsistent; we can get skunked or we can blow it open, you just can't really tell going into a game. It kind of is what it is, but I suspect they'll get better (overall) as the season goes on.

The pitching too has lots of potential but is also inconsistent. Loosing Moore hurts, but even still we managed to get the series victory. As rough as our pitching was at times today, compare the arms we had available to what Kentucky had. Lots of teams are going to start to get to the dregs by the latter half of Sunday games. I believe the pitching too will get better towards the back half of the season. There's a track record of that.

Fielding, I think kind of is what it is. Mediocre to shitty. The OF is very good, SS is great, everything else is suspect. I will say they've seemed to have gotten better of late (grading on a curve), but I don't think we're going to see a dramatic improvement. As guys get more reps we'll hopefully see less boneheaded plays, and hopefully that'll be enough.
