US Secretary of State Marco Rubio told G7 foreign ministers on Friday the war with Iran will continue for another two to four weeks, Axios reported citing sources with direct knowledge.

Rubio also told reporters the US can achieve its war objectives "without any ground troops."

"We are ahead of schedule on ?most of them (objectives), and we can achieve them without any ground troops, without any," ?Rubio ?said.

The objectives, he said, were destroying Iran's missile and drone capabilities and factories to produce those weapons, as well as its navy and its air force.

I hope this is true but what is the answer to who will be running Iran once it is done? Or will we be back to square one a few years from now?

Are we back to believing Rubio?
quote:

The imminent threat was that we knew that if Iran was attacked, and we believed they would be attacked, that they would immediately come after us, and we were not going to sit there and absorb a blow before we responded.

We went proactively in a defensive way to prevent them from inflicting higher damage.

Had we not done so, there would have been hearings on Capitol Hill about how we knew that this was going to happen, and we didn't act preemptively to prevent more casualties and more loss of life.

Was that comment from Rubio after he said that we attacked Iran because Israel was going to with or without us, implying that we were leveraged by Israel?

I think that was the statement Rubio made to try to dig out of the hole from his original statement.

1. Obsessed
2. This doesn’t mean they won’t deploy troops
3. Troop movements suggest they will
4. If they don’t deploy troops then I’m ecstatic

Sounds like they can’t finish the job and now we’ll be in a hot conflict with Iran off and on perpetually. The US may leave, but I doubt Iran is finish lashing out as a result. I’ll be surprised if we see gas prices return to $2.50 anytime soon.

That’s not even mentioning how…..excited so many war supporters were about regime change. Nothings changed except a far more belligerent Iran with a temporarily weakened military. They will rebuild and we’ll have to spend another $200 billion.

If they come up with a way to get the uranium without boots on the ground I’ll be very impressed.

Now that all the Gulf states are enemies of Iran , those Gulf states can infiltrate and buy a takeover of the regime. Unlimited money wields a great deal of power… this will happen MMW…..

I was told that Trump and everyone at the DOW completely misjudged the resolve of the IRGC and that this would cost tens of thousands of USAF lives.

Only if you're entirely ignorant of how the military actually functions.

Pretty likely that’s gonna be the Iranian revolutionary guard with a figurehead mullah. So pretty much the exact same thing as before. Kind of like Afghanistan we replaced the Taliban with the Taliban, but just a lot shorter to get there hopefully

As of late March 2026, the United States has approximately 50,000 troops already deployed in the Middle East.

My question to Little Marco is if we've destroyed those Iranian capabilities how can the Iranian military continue to close the Strait of Hormuz??

Or how this stops the regime, or, more specifically, how this stops the regime from permitting China to rebuild them all in short order?

How do we know it’s closed?

They let 10 tankers through that we know about.
