Does anyone know with who(m) we are negotiating in Iran?

AP News
Trump claimed they were "talking", then they denied it...but then Iran rejected the US proposal. So someone is talking, even if not directly. This arsehole is talking to the media.
...but it is not clear for who or whom he is speaking.
Who is in charge in Iran? Who is the regime?
quote:
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran and the United States appeared at an impasse Thursday, with each side hardening its position over talks and setting the stage for another potential escalation in the Middle East war. Thousands more U.S. troops neared the region, while Tehran tightened its grip on the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
Sirens over Israel warned of barrages of incoming Iranian missiles, and Gulf nations worked to intercept fire. Heavy strikes were reported in Iran’s capital and other cities.
In a war that appears defined by who can take the most pain, the U.S. has offered shifting but ambitious objectives, including ensuring Iran’s missile and nuclear programs are no longer a threat and ending Tehran’s support for armed groups in the region. Washington at one point also pushed for the overthrow of Iran’s theocracy.
While the U.S.-Israeli campaign has hit Iran’s military and government hard, killing top leaders and striking scores of targets, Iran continues to fire missiles and there is no sign of an uprising against the government.
For Iran’s leadership, by contrast, merely outlasting the onslaught could be seen as victory. It may be hoping to get the U.S. to back down by roiling the world economy with its stranglehold on the Strait of Hormuz — raising prices at the pump for drivers, prices in the grocery store for families and costs for businesses the world over.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview on state TV that his government has not engaged in talks to end the war and does not plan to.

I’m pretty sure it’s an Indian guy named Steve who’s scam call went a little too far

I like how Americans are trusting the AP and Iranian media over our intel. There’s clearly someone, who we don’t know, as we have delegates working on this. Also, why would the administration openly acknowledge this person and risk that channel?

Lol... nobody here knows.
I keep reading in different articles that the Iranian people aren't taking to the streets and rising up.... for starters, Trump has told the people to stay inside until he says it's time. Trump is telling us we are still dropping bombs, which is true. I would also bet money that Israeli/CIA folks are using this time to organize a resistance and arm them.
There is ALOT going on that can't and won't be revealed to the public for obvious reasons.

There are "intermediaries" being used for negotiations.

The other day someone posted a very interesting comment that he attributed to having heard in an online discussion between Iranian exiles. He suggested that part of what Washington is doing is speaking in positive terms about the "Iranian leadership" that they are negotiating with, describing gifts, agreements, concessions, and it is all a strategy to get the radical factions in Iran to fight with each other and be suspicious of each other.
Each faction knows that they didn't send Trump a gift, so it was probably a different faction vying for power.
If they can get the factions fighting among themselves, then perhaps we can provoke the internal struggle needed to actually bring the radical government down.
I didn't hear the conversation by the exiles and did not suggest that this was what was going on. I read it here. However, it seems plausible, and could be what Washington is doing.

Why do YOU need to know? Is there something you can add to the discussion?

Heavy rumors have been that it is Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, and even a few crumbs mentioned by the administration seem to point to him.
He is a lifelong regime member, former IRGC commander, former head of Iranian police, former mayor of Tehran, and current parliamentary speaker. He has been a steady proponent of the brutal crackdown on protesters and still calls for their harsh punishment.
