I find both of these songs to be spirit-lifting. The vibe of both songs just makes me smile.

Anyone else like them?

Both are songs that embodied the late 90s/early 2000s so well they soon became parodies of themselves. Same goes for Creed

People like to hate on music like this, but I enjoy it.

We're starting to see people become nostalgic for pre-9/11 American culture. When vibes were more positive.

Another Smashmouth song I like:

I liked "Walking on the Sun" quite a bit when it first released. I assumed from the sound that it was a group trying to emulate the acid rock stylings of the late 60's. But then Smashmouth turned out to really not be that. I didn't care much for any of their other singles.

I detest Smashmouth on the same level as thug rap.

I bought there first album when it came out because of Walkin' On the Sun. I wasn't a big fan of most of the rest of the album though.

It's crazy that most of their songs that got popular were covers. They were good covers though.

All Star is a great song that I never really get tired of.

I didn't like them at the time, they were "too catchy" and "overplayed" on TV and radio.

Now that I don't have to put on a "cool music guy" facade in my older age, I like them, and many other things that I was too cool for at the time, in the 90's.

In Athens, in the 90's, in the music and hipster scene, which I identified with, something like Smashmouth was heresy. Unless Brian Eno produced it, or Brian Ferry sang on it, anything new that came out was automatically garbage. But to be fair, that was actually true 80% of the time.

This is a great watch for those interested in the background of the song and the recording of it. Eric Valentine was the producer/engineer. And he’s joined with Greg Camp guitarist, and main songwriter from Smash Mouth

I considered them low talent hacks pushed to stardom by label influence. Oh, I didn’t like any of their songs, either.

Fair enough, to each his own.

These are the only two SM songs I really like.

That's true for most bands, I can't think of a single band that I like everything they have put out.

Whenever I hear Walking on the Sun, reminds me of that SNL skit where Jim Breuer played the snowboarder who was stripped of his medal because he tested positive for weed.

I like Walkin on the Sun because the music and content are complimentary. The fuzz box guitar and Hammond organ give it a proper context for talking about 60s retro fads. Plus, it has a good beat and is easy to dance to. I give it an 80.

They are ok in my book. At one time they were over played. I actually saw them at a concert one time and the lead singer got drunk and then got kicked off of the stage. He was saying a lot of filthy stuff Jim Morrison style and then the venue cut the cord.
