Pitino - very tough team
Izzo - has to play UConn
Barnes- my favorite coach in sec
Sampson - my favorite in 26
Calapari - if they beat Arizona, acuff\staff and b Richmond may shock the world.

Only dumbasses will vote against them especially when they’ve been in the game longer than an opinion has been alive.

Survive? Some of these probably mastered it long ago amid prying eyes.

It’s not old age that can’t survive. It is old mentality or old approach that can’t survive.

But that’s not how it used to be!!!! So what? Roll with it or get rolled over.

Barnes still having his team playing at such a high level is the only one that’s surprising to me.

Did anybody say this about basketball? It's really an issue with football where you have a 85 man roster and need at least 22 starters not including ST.

In basketball these guys you mention were used to recruiting the one and dones and having to start over every year anyway. Then they only need 2-3 key players and 2-3 roles guys.

We were kind of doing it already in BB.

Completely agree. The NIL/portal era should be less of a shock to “old” basketball coaches who were already used to a lot of annual turnover and have fewer players and coaches to manage.

Also, basketball hasn’t changed as much schematically as football. Not to say it hasn’t changed at all, mind you, just not to the same extent as football. We all know how much Saban evolved from the McElwain days to the Kiffin and Sark days. I don’t think older coaches like Izzo and Pitino have had to adjust quite that much on the floor.

Yeah, the financials of paying basketball players isnt as big of a change compared to football because you are talking about paying a handful of guys rather than an entire 85 man roster.

They have been paying handlers since AAU started and paying players long before.

These guys have been paying players for years, no change.

what's interesting, is there were a lot of people who wanted Petino fired after he went off on his team publicly either last year or the year before. That the game had passed him by and players wouldn't want to play for a coach like that.
