Howdy all,

I dropped off a Ruger Mark IV to be repaired a few months back. The guy/owner told me that he was backed up and it would be a bit. I said no worries, Ill be back to grab it in a few months. He took my information and I left. I went to pick it up/check the status of it on Friday and the place is closed. Sign is down and inventory is gone.

I am hoping that in the rush the get the place closed, my number was lost and no ill intent is going on, but I would like it back.

The Ruger MK IV is one thing, but add the RMR, Volquartsen trigger kit, and other custom parts makes it not cheap to replace.

Does anybody have a contact information for them other than the phone number or email listed on their website? The phone number listed goes stright to VM.

I don't know them, but it looks like they are still around. Maybe this info will help you locate

1. call Chris the owner (225) 523-4597
2. southernknightsarmory@gmail.com
3. Try hitting them up on facebook and instagram.

His address is out there too. If you can't get in touch with these, let us know. I don't want to blast it if not needed.

Message on FB 1/8/26:

**ANNOUNCEMENT**
January is the last month we will have this retail location open. It is a hard decision we have had to make, but a necessary one. We are still processing forms and taking orders for now. We will retain our licensing but will be moving to special order only. We will post updates on the move when our licesnse has been changed, along with new hours and availability.
As for now, everything currently in the shop is steeply discounted! We are no longer able to take CC. Swing in and get stocked up before its all gone.
Thank you all for your support, feel free to message or call with questions.

They had a FB post on Jan 8 saying they are closing down their retail business, but still doing special orders. Also in the post it said they would be posting updates about where their location will be and hours/availability. That was the last post they've made. I would give them a call and/or message their fb page.

I did see the Facebook post. But, like you said, nothing since that post on Jan. 8th.

Again, I am sure its a miscommunication and nothing nefarious. I just want my pistol back at this point, repaired or not.

I did try calling the listed phone number. It goes straight to Voicemail. I did send an email and I also sent a message through their website.

No response yet, but in all fairness, the phone call was made on Friday and messages sent on Saturday. All of this is very recent, but since I didnt get a call from him, now I am having to run him down.

I would give him a week to respond. If he doesn't contact the Livingston Parish SO. See what they say.

It may very well be a simple matter of miscommunication, but it "smells" bad to me. Given the fact he's had your gun for months, he's had plenty of time to have contacted you, then or now. I'd make daily text messages, emails, FB posts/messages and voice mails. If you don't get a satisfactory response shortly, I'd start mentioning the local Sheriff's Dept in your texts/messages/voicemail. Good luck.

**Update**

I got in touch with Chris today. I have been calling twice a day, sending 2 emails per day, sending 2 messages through his website per day. Nothing.

I sent a Facebook message (honestly didnt think about it, I dont use Facebook much at all) and he replied within 3 minutes. He said that he tried calling me when the gun was fixed and again when closing the shop. He said that the number he has for me is incorrect.

We are working on a date and time for me to get my pistol back. Things are looking better than they did. I will update one last time when I get it in my hands.

Shady or lazy as frick. There’s no excuse to operate like that.

If he was that busy he wouldn’t be closing up shop.

This sounds extremely suspect to me. Hope you get your gun back asap

**Final Update**

I got my gun back! I had to continue messaging him a few times per day until he was free to meet with me and let me get my gun.

I had originally dropped the gun off to have a screw extracted from the RMR after I broke a bit off flush in it.

I asked him to remove the screw and replace it. If he could not do so without scratching or damaging the gun, call me and I would come get it.

Gun has scratches all over the RMR, a gouge near where the screw was boogered, and the slide release no longer works. I realized all of this soon as I got home. I wanted to spend as little time at his house as possible.

I asked him if he changed the battery while the RMR was removed and he said no.

He asked for $80.00 and then reminded me that if I needed any future work, to give him a call.

I will keep all opinions to myself. Everything posted has been facts and truthful. Do what yall want with this information.

Posting pictures to this website is less than ideal, but here is a very close pistol to mine.

Glad you got it back but sorry it’s in worse shape than when you dropped it off. Now we know why he closed his shop.

Lesson learned. $80, some paint, new battery, and taking it apart to see whats up with the slide release is a cheap lesson. Especially if it helps others as well.

yeah I think the mystery there has been solved. My gunsmith experiences have been similar I’m not sure why there’s so many idiots in that business but it seems endemic. Last local one I tried messed up my rifle so badly I just stuck it back in the safe and called it a loss. A five year old could have done better

Baws should learn how to work on their shite. Watch a few cross-eyed Larry vids and you’re as good as 98% of these Facebook famous “smiths”.
