Anyone else feel this way? Their style of play…their players (Fletcher Loyer, that Amish guy with the beard, their HC)? I have no reason not to like them, but for whatever reason, I’ve always disliked them. This dates back to Gene Keady and that sharpied-on hairdo.

I kind of get it. I like Painter, though.

You mean the fact they actually run plays? I love watching them in the halfcourt.

They always seem to have a really good big guy and good shooters. Their whites aren’t smug pricks like reddick or that guy at gonzaga rn

Gene Keady was well respected by his peers. Purdue basketball is easy to dislike. They have huge chips on their shoulders. They have the most Big Ten regular season championships, the school of John Wooden, and yet they are completely overshadowed by Indiana, Michigan State, Michigan, Ohio State and now UCLA. Purdue has zero final fours in school history and yet we are led to believe that Rick Mount is like Magic Johnson by them.

I liked Edey but yeah they’re pretty unlikeable. And I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, their entire student population look like pizza delivery drivers and GameStop store managers.
Have also heard from some Iowa buddies of mine that they’re just insufferable human beings to be around because muh academics.

Painter is a brilliant offensive coach. I don’t dislike him or Purdue but they’re always a favorite pick in the pre season and in March and I think people know they’re a little overrated. Over a period of time that can turn people against them. A great example was Villanova before Wrights success, they were getting high seeds in Philadelphia brackets for 2 decades and they started to become a lot like Purdue is now. People started to not like them, perceiving them as getting special treatment.

This is the whitest team I've seen in a long time. These guys are nearly translucent.

Ah, the old anecdotal evidence pejorative from random dudes from a rival school.

"I heard....yada, yada, yada". Always how you should form your opinions.

They’ve been to three final fours. They played UCONN in the title game two years ago.

OK. I stand corrected. It just shows how overshadowed they are by so many other schools in the Big Ten.

It’s the coach and their style of play

Pretty damn boring and zero personality

I didn’t remember the Purdue finals team either. Maybe it’s a Mandela effect situation.

I can’t imagine watching Purdue and thinking they’re boring. They run beautiful stuff.

They also seem to retain players at a good rate which is refreshing these days.

How quickly people forget. Media was all over Edey's nuts that year.
