Anyone have the Samsung fold 7? Contemplating making the switch

Been an iPhone boy for a while but the fold 7 seems intriguing. Got to play around with it in the store a lot today and am even more intrigued. Want to hear thoughts from people that have experience with it though.

Had every one since the 2. The 7 not being a brick anymore is so nice, I was about to jump off after the 6 being so tired of how thick and heavy it was. Awesome phones, love not having to carry or own a tablet can just open my phone.
Sales really exploded with the 7 too I see them everywhere especially when traveling.

Yea I’m looking into moving into a role decently soon where having the added screen space would be a huge bonus for me. I love the way they ran when playing with it in the store. Part of me wants to wait to see what Apple does in September but I also have been looking for an excuse to go android for a bit now.

They are releasing a new one alongside the Fold 8 in August the Z Wide Fold, it is a passbook style one with a 4:3 screen.

I know the 7 was a pretty major update. I’m guessing the regular 8 will probably be minor updates then?

Yeah, bigger battery finally and faster charging and the new zero crease display. Nothing too crazy the crease is already quite small and unnoticeable.

Yea the crease didn’t bug me at all like it did when I fooled with older models. What’s battery life like on the 7 in general?
I may wait for the 8 to drop and get the 7 discounted.

It's "fine" certainly not great. Same battery for many years now so finally getting a bigger one is very welcomed though. 4400 mAh to 5000 on the 8.
Average screen on time 5-5.5 hours. iPhone 16 Pro 6.5-7 hours, 15 Pro 5.5-6.5 so it's mostly like a 15 Pro.
Also massively depends on how you're using it. Tablet screen watching videos, streams, games etc versus outer screen texting, basic browsing.

I wouldn't recommend getting a folding phones first generation. Granted it's Samsung making it I'd still let it cook for a year.

I bought the Fold 7 at launch. I was very hesitant in switching to my first fold after being very content with my Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. My biggest concern transitioning to a Fold was the fact that it would be too thin unless I opened it. That was a pain point from previous Folds but Samsung fixed that with the 7. It feels like a normal smartphone in your hands when its closed. Sometimes I forget i can open it. For work, its convenient to unfold it and have Outlook running on one screen and Microsoft Teams on the other. Its a great device and would recommend it to anyone who has opportunity to afford it. I have T-Mobile but buy it straight from Samsung. The insurance is cheaper and trade in value is better.

Well rumors are swirling that Apple will have an iPhone fold coming out this year.

Even a company as great as Apple, I would never buy 1st generation.

Not really a rumor anymore, Samsung has been working on it for a minute now and starting production on it in May using the same new crease-less display. It is a passbook form factor though not like the current Fold line that mimicks a traditional candy bar style.

I picked one up off of Swappa a couple months ago. Love the phone so far. Previous phone was a basic Samsung from 5-6 years ago so it was a welcome upgrade. Even traveled international with it and very happy with performance in various environments.
I would suggest to go with a proven product that has been refined such as the Fold line rather than a 1st gen Apple product.

The google sphere of Gemini connected so many apps with Ai all together is pretty amazing right now.
