I’ve never seen a team take so many first pitch fastballs right down the cock. I get being patient in Cjj’s offense and waiting on your pitch.. but damn.. too many fastballs being watched, especially middle away. Seems like everyone’s approach is they’re not going to swing at anything unless it’s middle in and try to pull the ball. We’ve got to change the approach and attack that middle away fastball early and drive it the other way with authority.

Sounds like an Aggie thing. I personally like taking pitches and working a pitch.count early in the game vs the starter but I think the approach should change as the game wears on.

It’s hard for me to question Jay at this point but alot of these highly ranked Texas/Cali kids he brings in I don’t feel like have the chest to play here and deal with a little adversity.

The team is pressing a little too much right now but I’m confident he will have it figured out by May.

So sick of watching big pop-up take strike 3's. He's a waste of a lot of space in the lineup at this point.

First time through the lineup, I get it. We’ve always done that with jay as coach. But in the middle innings, and we’re still taking fastballs middle away with less than 2 strikes. We have got to hit the ball the other way.

Starts with Curiel.

Overrated and plays like a softballer.

Curiel is a good player. He will have a nice career after college IMO. That said, being compared to Crews was always going to be a raw deal for him. Crews is an all time great.

The only thing he’s missing is a chin strap on his helmet.

Any GM who drafts Curiel in the 1st round should be fired.

It's painful to wathc. This year's team's bats are miniatures compared to last year's championship winners

There are nine INDIVIDUAL players out there....each one playing for themselves which is exactly what NIL cultivates! Until such time as these guys start playing as a TEAM....my favorite baseball team will continue to suck hind teat!!

Some of them have been absolutely awesome though. Herring and Shores.

Absolutely and even if he means the recruits straight out of high school then Herring and Shores are great examples of awesome championship players for LSU.

I agree.

I don’t agree that his talent is overrated, but it does seem his production doesn’t match his talent just yet. (And I have no idea what you mean when you say “plays like a softballer.”

But he certainly put enough muscle on in the offseason to where I think he already has 15(ish) home run power. And he’s great, but he’s about who he was last year, but not even on pace for the 7 homers he hit in ‘25. He was perfect for that team. And he’s great for this team. Plays a great CF, has a great eye, and still has great bat to ball skills. Is one of the smarter, most instinctive players I’ve seen. And he busts his arse 100% of the ti.

But this team needs him to do more. He needs to add some doubles and home run production if he’s gonna hit 3rd in the lineup. We don’t have a Bear Jones or Ethan Frey or even a Luis Hernandez. We have Jake Brown. And it looks like Serna and Pearson are gonna wind up hitting some homers of they stay in the lineup. But this team needs Curiel to hit more home runs and doubles in the gap. Unfortunately, I’m not sure he can change his bat path mid season to add some launch angle that will produce it. He hits so many hard ground balls that sometimes sneak though, but others are right into the shift for easy outs.

And I know it’s hard to tell someone with such a good eye at the plate to start being more aggressive—that could screw him up even worse. But he needs to picking out pitches earlier in the count to drive. Even if they’re technically “balls,” some are just barely in or up, and are pitches he can drive. And he’s counting on his eye matching the ump’s call, and umps suck, so he gets called out on a lot of backwards Ks, especially on full counts.

Good thing is this is probably his floor and he’s still hitting well, so I think he’s going to go on a heater at some point. But I’m starting to think more and more that he’ll be back for his Jr. season. I just don’t think he will have shown the power potential he has to get drafted where he wants to.

As in his stance, hitting strategy and lack of consistent power.

His hands out in front of him will be the first thing that’s changed at the next level, because his swing is all arms and he gets little to nothing out of his lower half.

I think he’s a good kid and can be a great college baseball player. I just don’t see an elite MLB prospect.

In my opinion I think Jay need to concentrate on bringing in more high school talent than transfers. This years transfer group haven’t shown much and have helped this team. Like Football go after your Louisiana kids instead of the west coast and build your talent from the high school ranks.

Sorry Paul, that’s why you got fired.

Jay isn’t missing on Louisiana kids that are tearing it up elsewhere. He’ll continue to get the top kids in the State like he has since he got to LSU.

It’s not his fault the MLB draft takes 5-7 of his top signees every year.
