Boat has Garmin GPS set up for Sirius XM Weather and radio. Renew that or just get starlink and use phone?

Nearshore, offshore 50 miles out max on good days

I’ve always had XM in the past, but if I was to do it today I would just get starlink instead.

The only thing XM gives you that starlink doesn’t is the weather overlay on your garmin mapping (plus the random other layers you can overlay with XM info). Unless you can do that over WiFi now.

But with starlink you could just use weather apps and Spotify (or really any other streaming service - including XM) from your phone.

My vote is starlink

Starlink all day! My buddy has it on his 38 freeman. You don’t need the xm once you have Starlink. You have full use of your phone, can call home via wifi call and you can stream tv on ur garmin screen. Just need to buy the module to stream tv.

Plus when your not fishing you can take the mini off and take it with you wherever you go.

I've seen some comments online that say the 100 GB Roam plan only works 12 nautical miles offshore. Is this correct that the unlimited plan is required for more than 12 NM?

That’s how I understand it being capped at 12 nm. I believe you have to have their roam plan and be in ocean mode for deep water. It should be on their website

We are inland on a huge lake w/ crappy cell service so I use mine for radar, calls, etc. if we need it.
