Owners would each receive over 500 mill if this happens from expansion fees

Every owner would get over $500 million? It's a $15 billion buy in for the two franchises? Wow.

Easiest vote in history. Sure, give me a half a billion to have another couple teams floating out there.

Seattle seems a little less attractive now because of the 10% state income tax that they just passed for people who make over $1 million. Whereas it used to be a no income tax state.

Seattle should just get its proper team back and forget about expansion

I would be interested to know how many teams NBA owners think is 'too many'. I bet some would vote to allow upwards of 40.

So dumb. The NBA would be better off removing two teams instead of adding two teams

If you would give them each 250 million for every team? There would be no limit

If I'm getting $500 million+ every time a team is added add another 50 teams.

On a serious note, NBA franchise locations seem to have pretty much reached geographical saturation, especially with the two new teams. the only real coverage gap is the area around St. Louis and KC. Other than that there's a team within a couple hours of every major metro area. They'd have to start looking at places like Mexico City to add more teams.

With Devon and old Chesapeake combining with other companies and moving their HQs to Houston, what kind of corporate support can OKC bank on in the coming years (besides Love's Travel Stop)? Meanwhile, Seattle still has Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Costco, etc.

Here's the current roster of Fortune 500's in OKC

Expand Energy
Continental Resources
Devon Energy
Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores
OG&E Energy
Paycom
SandRidge Energy

I have no idea what the ownership situation is but find it surprising there isn't more discussion about the Grizzlies moving to Nashville.

They are locked into their stadium lease until 2030, but you never know what could happen. They are 30th in team value and you'd think that a move to Nashville would boost that. The owner (Robert Pera) is from California and I don't see any real connection to the area, so who knows what he may be thinking.

Then that’s more ways the league revenue sharing gets divided up. So the current owners get $250M per team now, but going forward they have 2 extra teams taking a piece of the pie forever.

NBA revenue sharing is a little more complicated than I fully understand, but I know small market teams tend to get more from the revenue sharing. So seems like small market teams that actually want to win would be the ones that should be against expanding.

They are going to add two.

EDIT: They are voting to add two, and the only two markets they are considering are Seattle and Vegas. In theory, they could approve one and not the other, but that seems unlikely

I'm not in the energy biz, didn't realize that Expand was Chesapeake. Seems like there will be 5 remaining Fortune 500's once Devon and Expand are out.

Not sure how that stacks up with competitive markets. Cleveland has about 10 in their region, so it seems like OKC might be light on opportunities for corporate support.

It's a fair question but the league is so stacked with talent expansion won't hurt like it did in the 90s.

That flow of talent doesn't seem to be slowing, either.
