JJohnson hit grand slam with PSkenes and TWhite. This year not so much.
LSU has great Coaches and talent. But to develop a TEAM is not easy.
Really enjoy seeing Schmidt develop into top notch SEC pitcher. The portal is rolling the dice and sometimes you hit snake eyes. ??
Are we at team with most $$$ wins ??

You think it's easier to predict which HS talent will transfer to the SEC than from the transfer portal?

They were paid a whole lot less than you think they were. They were obviously unbelievable pick up’s but NIL is much different than it was even then.

You can evaluate their HS talents and build upon them.

Glad Tigers have Schmidt going today. Is LSU wearing gold? Pregame weather reports say wind blowing in hard. Coujd be low scoring defense kind of day ??

Get on the phone, round up the best guys you can get, play ball. Next year get on the phone, round up the best guys you can find play ball. Little to no player development, little to no team building or commitment.

In 7 years I’ve never seen this. On any level. What you’ll find with almost all of the good tournament teams is they all stay together. They usually all have a core group that moves up together every year. Not sure what your experience is but modern day college ball is nothing like modern day travel ball.

Terrible analogy. We don’t have a single Jaxxtynn or Braxtynn on the team

No kidding. We probably wouldn’t be able to sign Tommy White if he entered the portal today.

Wind was blowing out instead of in as predicted. Sunday kind of game with 16-9 scorefest.

Absolutely it’s like travel ball. Especially when mom gets mad.

That’s not what he said. Here’s the thing. When you recruit high school talent, absent guys like Crews and Curiel, you’re not expecting them to be day 1 starters from the moment you sign them. You can afford for some of them not to develop. When you sign someone from the portal, you’re expecting them to contribute/start from day 1, so a miss in the portal can be much more magnified than a miss in a high school class. We hit on everyone we signed from the portal last season. We didn’t in 2024 or (so far) this year.
