Did some spot spraying today with Fertilome WFZ. Realized I had stickers coming up everywhere. Never have seen these in my lawn in over 20 years living here. Is the WFZ gonna kill those or to have to get out the glyphosate? I doused them pretty good with that stuff.

You referring to lawn burweed LINK? If so, yes Fertilome Weed Free Zone will kill them.

Yes that's it. We called them stickers when I was growing up. Not sure why they would just pop up everywhere in my lawn this spring after never seeing them in 2 decades.

The key is to spray-kill the young developing burweed plants early before the seeds (which are the spiny stickers) mature. Once the seeds-stickers mature there really is not much one can do until the following year. An appropriate pre-emergent herbicide applied in fall-early winter can help.

You need to fertilize as well. Burrweed grows where turf grass is unhealthy. , so take extra care of your lawn and I’ll bet it chokes the burrweed out!

call me crazy, but every time i see some of this popping up in my yard i will sit there and pull them by hand. so far i think i have prevented it from spreading. had a few good sized patches a few years ago that i pulled up and they have not reappeared since.
