We have some neighbors down the street that lost everything to a house fire the other night. They have two boys in 1st grade and 4th grade.

We got a note from the school saying that they have all their needs taken care of but the boys are sad because they lost their entire card collection. The school is having a card drive for them but I have no clue what brands are the best so was wondering if someone can give me some advice.

TIA!

head over to the more sports board. There is a thread about sports cards. I will bump it so you can find it. I used to collect alot but not so much any more but they will give you some good info in that thread.

That’s awesome!!!! Where is the card drive? I got some boxes of LSU cards. Not worth anything but it’s LSU.

My input would be just head over to target or Walmart and pic up a box of baseball, football or basketball cards. Just pick a sport and I am sure the kids would be stoked just opening up the packs in each box.

Slip him an old Billy Ripken "frickface" card as an extra solid.

Where are you located and do you happen to know their favorite teams, sports, players?

Post an address and their names (or the school address with their first names) and my family will send thousands.
My 6 yr old inherited literally tens of thousands from his great grandfather.
I want the vast majority out of the house.

Depending on what you want to spend. If you have a dicks house of sport, they have a great selection of all cards. They run 30 bucks and up. They have some cheaper value packs (same brands) in the point of purchase section. They have supplies as well. It’s a really cool feature with the House of Sport…

You can order a hobby box from topps.com for around $120. Theyll have better chances at top tier cards and the new cards just dropped 3-4 weeks back. If you dont wanna go that big, get a couple of hanger boxes of same product, theyre about 15 bucks each but you’ll have to go to a card shop. Ive got a bunch id be happy to donate just to clear up space

This. Just avoid Leaf and Sage. Those are the worst boxes to buy along with any "mega" box. (I've got a 40 year collection that I keep adding to in my closet so maybe I'm a bit picky.)

If there's a card shop nearby, a gift card would be the winning move though. They can dig through the dollar boxes and start rebuilding what they lost rather than whatever comes out of a box. I'm heading to a show in Chicago tomorrow and those dollar boxes are actually what I'm most excited about.
