I usually don't do this till mid April or so. Soil temps are a little above average this year. When are y'all doing yours?

Sometime during the last two weeks of April.

I'm on the Northshore.

Good rule of thumb after the lawn has greened up and you’ve cut the grass (emphasis on grass growth not weed growth), twice. Certainly by federal tax day, i.e., mid- April (Deep South).

When would be a good time to spread leveling sand? After fertilizing?

Most people want to do it during peak growing season so they don't have a beach for a month.

It'll fill in in about 2 weeks with bermuda if done in July.
Zoysia may take longer?

But yes, generally speaking you would fertilize a few days before leveling or just afterward to give it a boost.

Yeah. Metairie here. Zoysia yard. April 15th is usually my target date and then take into consideration number of cuts.

I'm going to scalp my zoysia next weekend.
Going to wait to do leveling until june/July.

Wouldn't it be easier to level after scalped?
I want it to fill in quickly but I also want to level it properly.

In the Woodlands here. Applied milorganite about two weeks ago to Saint Augustine. Looks great already. Hopefully this cool spell doesn't stunt things

Pretty sure I'll be good. Has to be a pretty hard frost to brown mine.
