Yeah I'm calling total bullsit on this gaslighting. Newsom has implemented too many ultra-lib policies in his time as CA's chief fruit and nut.

He’s not an ultra-lib, and he’s not a centrist. Not a corporatist nor a moderate nor a progressive.
He’s nothing. He’s whatever he needs to be in every individual moment to make himself as palatable as possible to the people his is in the room with. He’s a shapeshifter without a core.

The article is correct that he’s a successful politician who is somehow disliked by both sides. Dems don’t like him either - he’s either not progressive enough for them or they feel he’s fake/sell out

The center has totally evaporated on the left and barely exists at all on the right at this point. Well for the current Overton window right I guess. Things can be very much much more right.
