The current Saints run started with guys like Fujita, Vilma, Brees and Shockey who were the heart of this team mentally and emotionally.

Fast forward and it was mostly Brees carrying that monicker until Demario Davis showed up. Cam and Jenkins in later years also filled that role a little.

Brees leaves and the team really relied upon Demario and Cam at that point.

With Demario’s departure and Cam not resigned yet, who is the leader of this team? It’s typically your QB, but we haven’t seen that yet. And who would be a natural successor on defense if Cam isn’t back?

Shough has been stepping up and ingratiating himself with his teammates.

If you see a saints player post something online, he’s in the comments hyping them up. Posted about every free agent yesterday.

With demario gone, it’s probably Cam, McCoy, Olave/Reid and Shough

If Cam is back its obviously him.

If he is not back, its not one guy but rather several like McCoy with the hope to transition to Shough

Chase for sure but he leads by example. I guess I picked the outspoken ones

Kamara isn't a leader type.

He doesn't participate in pretty much any offseason activities

It’s gotta be Shough.

We’re operating like we have a franchise QB. Most of the time franchise QBs become one of the if not THE leader of a team.

Tyler never was in college due to the path he took. He finally has a place to hang his hat and work on leadership. On defense if Cam doesn’t come back I haven’t a clue. Would the coaches help to identify and promote in the off season or have they already started the process.

Cam has mentioned him a few times on his pod as being a meaningful voice in the locker room. Alluded to him being his protege

Kamara has never really been a leader. He’s more like a hype guy. He’s the Saints version of Flavor Flav if you will.

I hope Shough can be that guy, but he seems pretty laid back.

I got no clue on defense. One of the reasons I’m so high on Sonny Styles is the reporting about his leadership.

I know Deuce was very involved with the team after he retired. Maybe Mathieu steps in from the outside to provide some experience?
