I really like what we did to start free agency, filling some of our most pressing needs with fairly reasonable deals and good players.

We still need on offense:
WR
Backup Center

Romeo Doubs seems like an ideal fit and reasobable $
need to re-sign Fortner

Beyond these 2, i think in the draft we would look at WR early, Guard early to replace Ruiz, and RB in mid to late Rds. Maybe a tackle for depth, but i liked Asim Richards last year.

We still need on defense:
pass rusher
corner/nickel
linebacker
defensive tackle

Some DEs we could target Trey Hendrickson (25 mil proj), Klavon Chaisson(9 mil proj), Cam Jordan(7 mil proj)

i dont think it would be crazy to spend here on Hendrickson or Chaisson to pair with Young and our timeline with a cheap QB.

At corner, im not sure what realistic options are available here. I doubt they break the bank here and is more likely we look to the draft in 3rd or 4th rd to pair with what we have at corner and safety already to fill the nickel/corner role lost with Alontae.

At linebacker, Sonny Styles is making a lot of sense at 8, but in free agency Leo Chanel could be a good fit if we arent sold on Stutsman and Werner

We have some decent depth an experience at DT but id like to see a DT taken early in the draft.

Needs on Special teams:
kicker
.. doubt we rely on Smyth without competition...

Trey still unsigned. May not have the market he was hoping for. Might be gettable for a short term deal.

That said, Edwards and Etienne notably signed 4 year contracts, which is a little unusual. I think the Saints are signing FA to contend 2027-2028 more than for 2026. Short term big money players may not be what they want.

I agree with OP for the most part. I feel we are ok at backup C. Can go heavily D in draft, but I'd still like to sign another G or get a WR. DT, LB, and K are my main concerns as of now. This draft is supposedly deep at LB so we will see.

Jahan Dotson WR and Devin Lloyd LB and call it a day. They fit the needs based on their age and the saints timeline.

Focus the rest of your time on the draft and the best defensive lineman and other defensive picks

Overall, I agree with your assessment. With a caveat:

If you think you are drafting an edge at 8, you do neither of these. And I don't think there is a chance in hell they do Hendrickson for 25Mil. He may be worth that, but the Saints aren't doing that.

Which is fair.. a 3 yr 28 - 30 mil deal w Chaisson w 12 guaranteed may be a better option. Hes still got upside and would be a good 3rd pass rush option

There won’t be an edge unless it’s Bain and he’s a no

Backup Center
It's kind of stupid to say that this is a need not a want, but for us it's actually true. xD

Give us at least 1 McCoy. Show us what we can be.

Also, not sure where those projections are coming from, but if a 7.6 sack per 17 game guy is getting $30 mil per year, Hendrickson is not getting less than that. If that's spotrac, they have been all over the place and more wrong than right on a lot of these. Some guys are far too high and some FAR too low.

Ya I used sportrac.. just one guess but obviously can be off.

My other post aside, this is how I would rank our needs:

CB- or at least a safety who can consistently, not occasionaly, man the slot; we have 2 "legit" ones in a league where you need at least 3

LB- even if you trust Stutsman to step up, it's him and Werner so you are lacking that super dependable guy like Davis

WR- obvious

IOL- likely both an upgrade to Ruiz and a dependable backup C

Edge- a third rotational guy behind Young and Granderson who can potentially become a starter

There are other spots we'd want to address, but these are the ones we need to still.

Yeah usually they aren't THAT bad but they have been horrific this year.

I think our ideal is now Styles or Downs to solve 1 of these positions.. and I’m not sure which I’d rather tbh, either would be great.

Edge/DE-DJ Wonnum, Arnold Ebiketie, Clelin Ferrell, K'Lavon Chaisson
LB- Leo Chenal, Devin White, Dre Greenlaw, Matt Milano
CB- Cam Taylor-Britt, Nahshon Wright, Jack Jones, Tyriq Woolen, Trevon Diggs, Derion Kendrick

WR-Jajuan Williams, Jalen Tolbert, Gabriel Davis, Romeo Doubs, Calvin Austin, Darnell Mooney

i'd like to resign Fortner b/c of his ability to play both C and G, Ugo Amadi b/c he can play the slot CB and S, and Terrell Burgess

I’m surprised the Falcons cut Mooney. I guess the Cousins stupidity caught up with their cap.
