How was this team picked #1 preseason?

Texas A&M was preseason #1 last year and sat home during the postseason. That may be where this is headed.

Preseason polls are a crapshoot in all sports now. We have no idea how teams will pan out because they're reconstructed year to year. We figure it out when the season starts
