Anyone have a place at Ormond Beach or visit there a few times. How would you rate it as a place to finish out my years?

Too far North. Keep going until you get to Lauderdale at least.

Great place. St. Augustine and Daytona nearby, but nice and quiet in Ormond. You could do a lot worse.

How long do you reckon you got?

My parents have a few friends that retired up the coast a little in Palm Coast. They visit that group 2-3 times a year. The area seems ideal for anyone 60-75 and still active, but I don’t know how it is for the more elderly and infirmed.

I’ll be 60 and in good shape. Knock on wood, my relatives live into their 80s.

Ormond is nice, but New Smyrna has more stuff to do.

Ormond Beach?

Bruh.

We all aspire to retire to the incredible Rutherford or Cameron Beach.

Shell Beach if your 401K didn’t turn out so fantastic.

Sister lives in Ormond. If you choose to live on the water, make sure your house is raised. It’s great, except for the twice-yearly bikefests. Like someone said earlier, Palm Coast is worth a look.

Shhh. Trying to keep people moving south.

South Carolina is more affordable anyway.

If we’re strictly speaking on quality of the beaches, Gulf of America beaches are better than Atlantic beaches by miles. It’s not even close

quiet and chill and the beach is sort of shelly and not very pretty water. You could do better further north or south.

used to have a condo there but sold it years ago, it used to be kind of a quiet, almost sleepy area, Dale Earnhardt used to rent from me for a few years, I would imagine it's grown a bit since I sold it but at the time I would prefer it to south Florida, which I lived for almost twenty years(Jupiter area)

Ormond is a solid place on the Atlantic coast. Def better than new Smyrna and Daytona.

I live in Orlando I’ve always like the gulf better simply bc the water and beaches are nicer.

I’m sitting in my beach house at St Augustine Beach as I type. I bought my small place during the Great Recession. It was a dump that I’ve slowly renovated. It’s still our vacation home. We’re close to retiring and maybe moving here full time and selling the house outside of Orlando.

I associate Ormond with the greater Daytona Beach area. That entire area has drastically improved in the last twenty or so years. It used to be kind of run down but it’s booming now. I’d say any place between Daytona and Ponta Verda Beach on the upper east coast of Florida is really good.

No matter where you go, the lifestyle in coastal Florida is fantastic. Just don’t be a Democrat if you move here. They’re not welcome.
