LSU does ok with tier 1 pitching and crushes the next couple of tiers but struggles against guys with barely college-level arms that throw strikes. This has been the case for as long as I can remember, I’m guessing it’s because our batters are trained to expect more movement and/or velocity so every pitch from these rag arms is effectively off-speed.

There are acres of green to hit the ball if they just focus.

I said “movement and/or speed.”

I just think it’s tough for our hitter to guess the correct pitch and still be off on the timing. We’ve got a bunch of dudes who are used to a certain rhythm, and it’s a problem for us when the pitcher is throwing a fastball and the batter is correctly thinking “fastball” but is still off because he needs to be thinking “fastball, but this guy sucks so I should probably be thinking change-up for timing purposes.”
