Looks like the top aide for one of BR's most historically incompetent Mayors just got busted for taking over $200k in kickbacks.

I don't think these allegations are that taxpayer money was stolen, unless these contracts led to inferior work, and then you could kind of spin it that way.

Yes I believe these charges are specific to kickbacks.
She probably went to the Latoya Cantrell school of Kickbacking.
However I bet the number of people w/in the BTR government who are skimming $50k, $100k, etc out of accounts with zero oversight is staggering.
It's part of the reason why everything here is broken and looks like crap.

This should serve notice to all EBR Parish citizens.
When you see all these feel good “initiatives” they are mostly there so that friends of the politicians can profit.
Tax payer dollars going to all these NGOs need to be stopped. We can’t hire enough cops, clean our ditches, put forward a storm water plan, stripe the streets, etc., but we have no issues with funding regular projects in the “community” like the one in the OP.
Don’t get me wrong, some probably do some good, but so many are only there to provide business for the right people.
