The same progressives who think an income tax of 50% or more for top earners is a great idea also say that 10-15% reciprocal tariffs are a tax and devastating to the economy. Progressives were all about some protectionism before Trump.

The discussion is a lot more nuanced than you are willing to acknowledge

Not so much in terms of the incentives and motives for progressive outrage.

Likewise, I love how Trump pretends to be an economist when it comes to tariffs.

Who doesn’t love strangers struggling to run their small businesses, right?

What the F have modern era economists done to be taken seriously?

They of the modern economic theory school who’ve bankrupted us and mortgaged our nation for our grandkids to have to clean up deserve nothing but scorn and derision as far as I’m concerned because they relinquished any respect in which they were once held when they decided to become globalist political activists and wishcasters.

One of us was born into wealth and has bankrupted multiple casinos and has to pay off washed up porn stars he cheats on his wife with. He gets your adulation while you repeat fantasies you don’t even know the origin of because I hurt your feelings on behalf of the president.

Trump billionaire businessman.
Bessent worth 500 million considered by many to be one of the greatest economic minds of our lifetime.
Lutnick billionaire businessman.
All of them have degrees in business and economics.

Yet we have a bunch of career politicians that have zero degrees in business or economics. Have never ran a business. Yet they are up here talking shite to those 3 about economics. I got an idea. Stfu and let them do what they have spent their entire lives and educations doing at a high level. There is a zero percent chance we should listen to anyone else outside of those 3 about it.

Think mortgage debt. Now think increased revenue. Oh, I forgot to mention DOGE savings and big time deregulation.
