If you ever want to understand how polls lie to us daily, well, here it is.

Polling should be outlawed. They are only used to steer those who wish to follow others.
The GALLUP POLL is dying. I wonder why?
quote:
For decades, Gallup’s company and its imitators improved their techniques. Then things began going wrong. As the frequency of polling intensified and caller ID caught on, Americans ceased picking up the phone. In the late 1990s, 28 percent of those contacted by Gallup agreed to participate in a poll. By 2017, only 7 percent agreed. At present, the company’s response rate is down to 5 percent, a Gallup spokesperson confirmed to me by email. That figure is typical for the industry. In other words, in the late 1990s, Gallup had to place about 3,500 calls to build a 1,000-person sample. Today it must place 20,000 such calls. Obviously that costs much more.

Why should it be outlawed? What the frick are you talking about?

So only 1 / 20 even respond now a days? ( another problem -- no "normal" persons respond to polls.)
Whether using "push polls", select demo polls or polls that use scarce data, skeleton representation and skewed data, Gallup and other pollsters still manage to create the illusion of "consensus" to influence opinion.
The fine print -- who reads it? Nice loophole.

Exactly and when the pollsters are wrong they shrug their shoulders and say, "We underestimated" knowing the entire time they were simply trying to "win" it for the democrat or marxist.
Biggest crooks in election cycles.

The do not call list should be applied to polls, marketing firms, and political advertisements.
When they ask for my opinion, I tell them that their phone call should be illegal because im on the DNC list.

What percentage of the 94% of the American populace who look at polls make their decision based on poll numbers?

I'll repeat my question.

If they are 100% illegitimate, why do strategists of both parties pay so much attention to them, and continue conducting "internal polling" of their own?
I think they are only 50% legitimate, and have never been 100% legitimate. And it depends on the polling outlet.
But making them illegal?
What the frick?

If a poll says 80% of people don't want men in women's sports, is that a bullshite poll?

Of course it is. That number is much higher. What do you not understand about having to call 20000 people to get a 1000 person sample? Believe it or not, that 20000 number is low.
I have not ever been polled in my life. EVER!!

Silent majority is very much a thing.

If pre-election polling is eliminated, the dynamic completely changes regarding how the people are treated and the clarity of the messaging. The politician will be responding to the people, not the poll.

quote:Not obvious to me. With current automation, costs should be half or less as a bot can contact everyone on the poll at once and report immediately on the ones that respond.
Obviously that costs much more.

i ignore any political call, i'm glad my phone tells me when its political too

I’ve been contacted a fair share of times by polling agencies over the years for one thing or another. I’ve never answered a single question. I’d recommend conservatives stay away from all polling of any kind.

I know I'm not normal, but I respond every time I'm called. One reason is that I was on the other end of the call in high school in the early 90s. The other is that I want my opinion to be heard. I like telling them that a Trump veter has an unfavorable opinion of everyone that represents this state. From the governor to the US senators, they all suck.

I was on their call list until they learned my views.
Then they dropped me like a stripper with AIDS.
I wonder why!
