Crime 101 - Hemsworth/Ruffalo/Berry

One of the better crime drama movies I’ve seen in a while. Kind of felt like a similar vibe as Drive, minus the great soundtrack. The cast is loaded. Solid acting all around and a good storyline. Pretty cool car/motorcycle chase scene through downtown LA. Halle Berry still a smoke show and Monica Barbaro is as well. Would give it a 9/10.
Has anyone else seen it yet?

I thought it was pretty mediocre. It might have every single crime trope possible in it.
-thief with a random code
-thief ex-communicated from his group (for no reason)
-more violent version of said thief. "what he would be without the arbitrary code"
-his code will be tested in his ultimate showdown
-rich people that "deserve" to be taken advantage of
-random love storyline that turns super serious in 2 scenes
-non appreciated woman in a man's world
-seasoned cop whose life is falling apart due to his job. hes CLEARLY right about things and theres no reason for people to doubt him other than "ok old man"
-cop respects the thief bc of his code
-ride off into the sunset
You also have to ignore a lot of logic for almost anything to make sense. The only real characters in it are Ruffalo and Berry.

Fair enough. Wasn’t judging it based off breaking the mold. Just thought it worked for a lot of the reasons you seem to think it didn’t.

Ruffalo, I’m out, no really, I’m out. Absolutely despise that mumble-mouth clown.

It was a pretty blatant Michael Mann ripoff.
I understand there will always be inspiration from past films, but it was so obvious that it became distracting at times. I also hated the ending.
