Question About the 10-Run Rule
Posted on 2/15/26 at 2:42 pm

Do they have to play a minimum number of innings (like maybe 5?) before the 10-run rule takes effect, or is the game over as soon as one team has a 10-run lead?
(Assuming an equal number of at-bats by each team, of course).

I think the game must go at least 5 innings for the 10 run rule clause to kick in

The other posters already covered it but I think Milwaukee has to be out by a certain time to get to their flight and such. I remember that being an issue in the past. Hopefully they make it to 7 today

Doug said they don’t leave until tomorrow.

At the stretch is the earliest the 10 run rule takes effect

Ole Coach might just concede after 5

Why did the Missouri game keep going once they were 30 runs up?

The tourney they play in doesnt put that rule in play, or the coaches didn’t agree

So what if he didn't?

The team down 10 or more runs has to get through 7 innings at bat.

Because it’s not an NCAA rule. It has to be agreed on by both teams before the game.
However the SEC rules state that there is a 10 run rule for the SEC conference games so teams don’t need to agree.

I actually thought it was up 15 after 5, up 10 after 7. However, today’s game proved otherwise.

I posted this when the game was in the 3rd or 4th inning.
