Scruffy feels like he would be part of the disappointed crowd, but he doesn’t have a unibrow.

Pretty much on point. Everyone wants every game to cater to their interests, which is causing a massive watering down of a ton of mainstream games. Don't like Soulslikes? Cool, don't play Soulslikes; don't ask for Soulslikes to become less of a Soulslike. Same for RPGs, roguelites, and others. But it's been going on for a while. Hell, I love the Mass Effect trilogy, but moving from a more traditional RPG in ME1 to a Gears of War cover shooter in the next two games kinda sucks for those of us who enjoyed the first game for what it was. But, it made "the thing" more popular, so the industry did it to everything. But that was when there were fewer games made and less choice available to the gaming public. Now, we can absolutely say "frick your mass appeal amalgamation; I'll just go play something else" in a way we never really could before, so the pendulum is starting to heavily swing the other way.

This is why AI powered game development may be a good thing. Humans can lay the groundwork, but let AI evolve the game in customized paths.

Almost like choose your own adventure, except AI is doing the heavy lifting of the adventure development.

Personalized game development will be coming.

Or, it just gives more people the capability to be able to create the games they like with much less barrier to entry. IE being able to code or investments. If you don’t have to cater to investors demands then you can make the type of games you enjoy without worrying about how much money you make.

A.I will never be able to create games as good as the studios that are similar to the picture below.

Also, funny that this is the bunch who always bitch about A.I. in video games.

Weird how that works…
