I know this is going to bring a shite load of sarcasm but I'm not asking for an upscale place in Monroe. Wife and I will stay in town this weekend and man, it's just shite chain hotels, unless I'm missing something.

Any suggestions? Is there a legit 4 or 5 star hotel in BR?

Looked at AIRBNBs, VRBOs didn't find anything.

Thanks

Not bad, we stayed there last time. Which was at the end of December.

No complaints. I would say the Watermark Marriott downtown is nicer.

+1. This is where we stay when we come in town for football/baseball games.

Watermark is really the only answer. Indigo isn't bad for the money, just small rooms.

There are some high end airbnb's out there if you are looking closely.

Origin, Watermark, Indigo, Hampton or Hilton if downtown. Just pick your price range.

Renaissance if around Bluebonnet.

Crown Plaza or Embassy Suites if around College Drive.

L'Auberge if you want a casino atmosphere.

Cook Hotel if needing close to LSU campus.

Residence Inn on Corporate

Town Place Suites or Element if around the hospital on Bluebonnet.

Places to avoid - any hotel near I-12 (Airline, Sherwood, & O'neal exits) is going to be a rough area.

Solid advice is stay away from places near both I-10 and 1-12 exits. Exceptions are Renaissance Hotel on Bluebonnet or hotels at Essen and I-10. Those cater to families with patients in the nearby hospitals. Downtown Watermark is probably the best experience. If your plan is to drive to NOLA for Mardi gras, Renaissance may be best location.

Bally’s is a great updated hotel. We just stayed there for a Mardi Gras ball and were impressed.

The Watermark is my favorite when visiting Baton Rouge, Lod Cook is great if you need to be on campus but its a bit dated at this point.

My review of the Watermark is below if you're interested.
