February Signing Day was the best

My buddies and I would skip class, grab some beers, break out the bong, and watch Tom Luginbill on ESPNU. Miles would haul in a solid top 5 class consistently and life was good. Now no one even knows today is NSD. Nice to take a trip down memory lane.

I loved the Bayou Bash, made all but 1 and was upset that I had to miss that one because of work

With Lane at the helm, you could just take 10 days off for portal signing period.

Dang today is NSD....I would take off work annually to watch the disappointment. After Pat Surtain shafted us, I stopped watching. Thanks Pat!!

This week (and NFL Draft week) I always took off work & used PTO. There was always FOMO drama & rollercoaster intel leading up to NSD.
Whereas now, I worked last night and I'm gonna work again tonight and will catch up in 2 mins before I leave for work which couple of names LSU signed.
Thankfully, Portal season delivers the same highs (& lows) NSD used to provide annually, for an even longer window of time.

I never got to make one of these. Middle of the week. Now that I could take off and attend, it is long gone. Bummer

I miss the bayou bash. It was a good time for sure.

***fax over their letter of intent****
Bama would have recruits act like they were headed to LSU and then at the last minute sign with Bama.

The first Wednesday in February used to be so much fun. I still recall the first year they held it at the casino. It was such a unique event for its time.
HS recruiting season used to have so many events and followed so closely. The old HS awards show they would hold at a Hooters the week before NSD would be so packed.

The 1 day my dad and I would call or text while at work sitting in front of the computer updating Dandy Don and rivals seeing who we got. Fun times.

Last Bayou Bash I made was Joe McKnight year (RIP). Strong class nonetheless.
Today was just Wednesday. Forgot it was NSD.

am I remembering correctly going to one of these at the LSU Field House and eating Jambalaya from styrofoam takeout boxes? Maybe 1997?
