City is losing its most prized recruits right before Mardi Gras thanks to ICE.
ICE says 46-year-old Larry Temah was one week away from graduating the New Orleans PD academy when they arrested him.
They say Temah first entered the US legally in 2015 on a visitor’s visa and was granted conditional residency after marrying a US citizen in 2016. However, in 2022, his application for permanent residency was denied to due to fraud.

Officer was legal when hired. Became illegal once already in the academy.
Background checks don't find future issues.

DHS statement to FOX:
“This illegal alien from Cameroon, Larry Temah, is not only breaking the law with every step he takes in this country illegally, but the New Orleans Police Department hired him and issued him a firearm - what kind of law enforcement department gives criminal illegal aliens guns and badges? It’s a FELONY for illegal aliens to even possess a firearm. Sanctuary cities like New Orleans ignore ICE detainers and are protecting illegal aliens at the expense of American citizens."
She did everything by the book except when she handed him a Glock. I think even DHS said well maybe that's a step too far.

The academy lasts 3 years?

I do not believe Mr. Nanga Eboko was legal when we hired him in 2025.

It shouldn’t be legal to hire someone who isn’t a US citizen for the role of police officer, or any government job for that matter.

He was denied permanent residency in 2022.

The application goes through DHS e-verify system. And the FBI.

All this is wild because to even get in a building for an interview most places you got to have a ID.
If you get the job then they wanna see your passport and drivers license, then most places nowadays do a background and credit check.
You got things like TWIC cards and all kinds of other bullshite depending on the industry.
Wild that people can get this far.

I don't know if I believe them that they both did this AND reviewed the output.

You believe the DHS system is solid enough to have the correct info though?

Probably not. Hopefully that’s changing for the better.

Also, I believe the order for deportation wasn't issued until December so there is probably a solid chance that DHS didn't have their documentation straight.

FIFY…just because she said it did doesn’t mean it’s true. Are you familiar with with how things work in NOLA? Let’s see the app and the returned verification. I bet the e-verification has “mysteriously” been lost.
