Time for a breakfast ball.

I’ve had some spectacularly bad first tee shots though.

My daughter was at HS State Championships 2 years ago and her playing partner that day did something similar on the First tee in front of everyone, parents , players, coaches .. To add insult to injury it got nestled in the rocks guarding the water hazard behind the tee box. Poor thing had to take and unplayable from behind the tee box and hit her 3rd from that point. Felt sorry for the girl. Not a way to get off to a good start at state

On one hand I could see just taking it to the house after that and calling it a day. On the other hand I've had some of my best rounds start in a deep hole. That's golf I guess.

Why did no one tell her to just re tee? S&D is always and option, even when the distance is towards the hole.

That might be the longest negative shot ever.

The worst one I have witnessed was at the old front 9 at LSU. An old RR track ram through the middle of the course , but it never really came into play. Except....

On the 4th hole, the tee-box was about 30 yards behind the track. My buddy, didnt play much golf so all he tried to do was just hit the ball hard. He hit an absolute screamer about 6 inches off the ground and it hit the track and caromed at least 50 yards behind us. Made for a hell of a long par 4

Once they tee off only a coach can talk to them or of course playing partners can confer with each other on shots. My daughter told her to re-tee.. that girl decided hitting a 3 wood from a fluffy lie taking the tree out of play was her better option.

Fairly certain she didn’t hit driver the second day either to avoid this tree.

I've snap hooked 3 in a row OB into trees right to the left of the first tee box. Almost just went back to the car.

I did the same thing on LSU old front nine, hole #8. Hit a worm burner, nailed the RR track, and bounced back over my head.

I’ve never done that on the first hole, but I’ve done it after the third. Sometimes it just isn’t your day.

I watch guys at Greystone slice into the water right on hole 1 all the time. Half the time their breakfast ball goes in too. I never laugh though. Bad karma.

I had a playing partner/ competitor do that in a tournament when I was a junior. He walked off the course.

A few weeks ago, I didn’t have time to stretch and was a touch hung over. I topped it so bad, I think the back crown of the 3 wood hit the ball. I didn’t pass the edge of my own box. It was a decent bogie from. There

I can only remember one negative tee shot. Playing Ellic CC with my BIL. He hits it low. On 18, his drive squares one of the round tee markers on the tee in front of us. The ball comes screaming back through our group and settles in the middle of the turn in 17 fairway.

None of this makes sense

I got par on the #1 handicap hole after topping it to the back side of the front tee box. Had a uphill fluffy lie on the back of the tee box. Driver of the deck left a pitch and a putt for par after. I don't always follow my own advice, but I try to never give up until the hole/round is done.

Ball ended up on the right side of the tee box and taking the tree dead left of the tee box almost completely out of play.

When we were in high school, my buddy hit himself with his opening drive once. Ricocheted off a tree and bounced right back at the tee box where he was still standing.

Played in a company tournament at Howell back in the day. One dude came out wearing Daisy Duke cutoffs. He teed it up on hole one next to the road, and hit it over the fence. The ball hit the road at the same time a car was passing by. The ball hit underneath the car and was bouncing up and down as the car went down the road. It was awesome!

I’ve got a moving car tag on my terrible shot resume as well.

#11 at The Island I really tried to muscle one down there and hit the biggest arching banana slice ever. I swear it hung in the air forever and drifting into the road that runs right by. It ended up tagging some random suv that just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I was mortified and impressed all at the same time.

We used to have a group of co-workers that would play Sunday mornings at Sherwood Forest. One morning we had enough for 2 groups, 8 guys. One of the guys, who was a decent golfer showed up right at tee time, presumably hungover. He breaks out a brand new sleeve of balls and tosses them on the tee box.
shot 1 - top in the ditch
shot 2 - snap hook in woods
shot 3 - top in the ditch
He didn't say a word to anybody. He calmly walked to the cart, un-strapped his bag, and went home. LOL.

Hole 1 at The Bluffs to qualify for the La. Mid Am. Death and taxes on the left side of the fairway where I eloquently put it. Took a drop in front of the front tees and popped up a rescue 150 yards from the green. Hit my approach, shot 4 left on the green about 30' from the hole. Cozied it up there for a tap in, voila, db.
