Hypothetical: Could the USSC Mandate Voter ID in Every State?

1) Is it even possible?
2) If it is possible, what would have to be done to get the USSC to consider it?
I tried to look it up but didn't get anything definitive.

I wouldn't think they could create policy.
just rule on whoever does.
just rule on whoever does.

The Supreme Court can permit or strike down state voter ID laws, but it cannot require them across all states.

Well this is a ripe time for a case to go before them. But takes a while.

Only if the legislation branch makes it into law. This is really basic civics class from 8th grade.

They cannot create laws. They are in place to interpret the laws. Their ruling cannot be enforced by them along with any other court.

The SAVE Act would have to be passed first.
Then the libs will shut little green apples and it would get sent to the USSC.
The USSC would determine if the SAVE Act is constitutional in its content (I.e., Does the federal government control federal elections?)
Whatever the result, the States and FedGov would have to comply with the implications of the decision.

Via organic fiat? No

They could easily rule a law mandating voter ID in a Presidential election Constitutional. I think ID requirements for all remaining offices would be determined by the states.

Congress would have to pass it, so it’s virtually impossible.

Why not? They mandated gay marriage in every state, and also mandated Obamacare.

Good point.

That is because the idiots in Congress passed it and it became law. They cannot create legislation/laws. They can only rule on them. It takes the executive branch (DOJ) to enforce their rulings. This is 8th grade civics.

Congress did NOT pass a gay marriage law prior to the USSC's ruling.

Agree but also congressional seats since they are federal too. Trump could do an EO for the federal seats but we need congress to codify it to last beyond Trump.

Congress did not pass a law mandating gay marriage, and Congress also did not pass Obamacare as a tax.
SCOTUS created both of these things completely out of thin air.
