When's the last time St. Paul or Jesuit didn't win 5A boys? I'm gonna guess one of them take it.

Just looked through the brackets, it's been a few years since my daughter graduated and last played, but on the girls side the usual suspects are all at the top

But the expansion from 24 to 32 teams, at least at everything below D1, was a dumb idea on the girls side. There aren't enough good teams to provide any type of quality play once you get so low. The top 8 effectively have a bye just like the old days, but now with the added benefit of a chance of injury and the joy of mercy ruling some poor team from 3 hours away before half time.

Archbishop Hannan finished #1 in D3, and their reward is a first round game against a team that is 0-18 on the year. That's not a typo. St Michael's went 5-13-1, and they get to host a first round game.

It's all so dumb, all in the name of "more teams get to qualify and experience the joy of postseason"

I've been to a lot of boys games this year, mostly Div 1.

I've seen just about all of the top seeds in Div 1, except for #2 Brother Martin, #6 Catholic High, and #7 West Monroe.

I don't think anyone will beat #1 Jesuit, except for maybe #3 Denham Springs. I watched these two teams play in the Lafayette Copa tournament where Jesuit won 2-1. I think Denham has the firepower to score on them, but Jesuit looked liked the better team top to bottom.

I'm predicting Jesuit vs Baton Rouge and Denham vs Brother Martin in the semis, with Jesuit beating Denham in the finals.

Also, on a side note ....

I've never been the SLU stadium where they hold the finals every year, but I think the finals should be a Moore Park in Lafayette. The showcase field over there is awesome. I don't know if the SLU field has football lines, but I would much prefer to watch a soccer game on a field without them.

I’d be surprised if anyone other than Jesuit wins D1. They are strong everywhere and have lots of depth.

Correct on that point - last public school to win state that I know of was Division 1 - Northshore girls in 2020.

I believe Jesuit has only given up 4 goals all season (18 games).

Unfortunately, I'll have to predict they win D1.

My daughter was on the Dutchtown team that played in the champ game against SJA back in 2023, same year the Dtown boys lost as well.

Made some public school history with the first team to have both teams in the finals, but unfortunately were outclassed in both games that night.

Yeah that was something for Dutchtown

- My daughter was on the 2020 Northshore team that's why I know the fact
They played Mandeville in the finals.
At least 1 public school was going to win
A few weeks later Covid shut everything down.

As far as Hammondi hosting - I like the venue
Good parking, a lot of seats and a nice field
They have soccer team at SLU

Here is your 2026 LHSAA Soccer Playoff Cheat Sheet:

D1 - Jesuit is the best team. Denham and BM in the semis on the other side of the bracket at BM to decide who gets to play them in the final probably.

D2 - Holy Cross (2x defending state champ), Willow, Rummel, and Prarieville will battle it out in the top half of the bracket. STM, Teurlings, Ben Franklin, and Central Lafourche in the bottom half will battle it out. D2 is top heavy and these teams can all beat each other on any day. Not sure who will win.

D3 - University (defending state champ) and Loyola will meet in the final. University's title to lose.

D4 - Newman (defending state champ) and Northlake Christian will battle it out in the final probably with Newman I think winning again?

Are the same schools still the powerhouses? When I was playing 06-10 it was always Caddo Magnet, Capt Shreve, Newman, Vandebilt, U High, St Louis winning.

DIII has shifted a lot. U High has been pretty dominant but your blue bloods like St. Louis and Vandy have been in a drought and haven't won a championship in 8-9 years. Other teams like Lusher and The Willow School have won a few as well. I'd never even heard of either of those schools until they won it all.

You need to come watch a game. We had an alumni night a couple of weeks ago and all met at Beck's before and after the game.
