The final demo for Nioh 3 is available now on PlayStation and PC. If you complete this demo, you'll unlock a helmet in the full release (same helmet from the first demo). You can also carryover your save data from this demo to the full release.

This actually got me interested since nioh 2 was too much like nioh for me. Looks like they’ve added some cool elements to the game so it’s not such a cut and paste again

Ohhhh I wouldn't be so sure lol. Nioh is Cut & Paste: The Series. I cant wait to see how many yokai and environments get reused

Downloading demo now and I know I will plat it, but I'm pretty tired of the formula

Well I mean it still looks pretty much the same with the same enemies in the first couple minutes. I’m talking about the jumping and wall running. So at least environments will be somewhat different.

I’m not expecting much different in terms of story, inventory, and overworld map/level system

I mean, the story is always meh, but the game being "open field" should add something fresh (whether it's better or worse is TBD).

I'm going to dive into the demo tonight but I'm worried that Ninja style apparently doesn't have stances? High stance, strong attack, kusa was my go-to in Nioh 1 and 2.

One tip I've seen so far is to change the dodge/sprint buttons to be the same like the previous games:

quote:

Configure Controls > Set controls for dashing/special actions and more > Dash Button settings.

Change it to Hold (button) while running: Dash!

People are also recommending make Style Shift and Burst Break different buttons. Also, Burst Break seems to have the same timing as Phantom from Nioh 2.

ETA: The skill tree also apparently doesn't have passives anymore. Instead, you pick them up exploring the world.

I didn't play the first demo and after playing this demo for about 5 hours, I don't think I like the direction Team Ninja went with Nioh 3.

I really don't like having two styles which lock weapons/armor/skills. I've always been a kusa user so I'm stuck with Ninja style, which means no ki pulsing (and no clearing yokai realm pools) or stances. If I want to switch to axe, then I can't use Ninjutsu. I guess they expect you to constantly switch back and forth between styles during a fight? That seems like a lot to manage considering how different the style mechanics are. They also only give you three slots for Ninjutsu which is ridiculous.

It's also been a pain so far trying to keep each style up to date as I pick up gear.

ETA: Being able to respec at any time, for free, is pretty amazing. Especially when it comes to experimenting with weapon/style skills.

Alright, it has finally started to click with me as I've been leveling up and unlocking different skills/soul cores.

I forgot how brutal Nioh is in the early game without and skills/upgrades.

Completed the base demo although there's some remaining things to do.

So far I'm having a blast with it. They took parts from Ronin which I enjoyed and upped the ante as usual with the game mechanics. I'm been sticking to Samurai a lil too much, but Ninja has felt fantastic! I'm already looking forward to full release

I hope they carry your data to include everything after the second boss. Some people seem to think that it takes a snapshot for transfer when you beat him and it shows the transfer message. I think it'll be a straight transfer of whatever level and stuff you have.

I agree. I think it'll literally be the save file with all of your gear, items, etc.

This thought never crossed my mind. That would be a little bit of a bummer cause I’ve done quite a bit stuff after beating him.

I'm really considering buying a PlayStation DualSense Edge for Friday because the different controller configs are driving me crazy

Hearing this one is way easier than 1 and 2. Ninja mode is OP

I got this vibe from the demo, ninja was crazy OP. Deflect is really op too, it seemed like the timing was super forgiving
