For the next two weeks, college teams are ranked by humans until they go to computer poll

Let’s take a look

LSU comes in at 21

LINK

They have 3 ranked wins and are undefeated . All on the road. Most ranked wins of any team. Two of the teams they beat are ranked ahead of them :lol

Texas is #5 with 2 losses and no ranked wins

South Carolina is 15 with no ranked wins and a loss to Clemson at home. LSU beat Clemson on the road

#17 ranked Arizona had no ranked wins. Oh yeh, also they lost to LSU

If you aren’t going to take the time to do it right don’t do it at all

I had time to kill before a baseball game last year
so I stepped into the tennis center while a match was going on
it was fun

Kinds makes sense because their isn’t enough data to really enter at this point, but they should just let the coaches rank. Would be much behest than this “committee”

How much do ITF and UTR rankings take into account with these committees?

It's not even human error. It's human bias.

They likely only looked at UTR and paid zero attention to actual results

letting coaches rank is absurd. Coaches don't pay much attention to any other teams, other than scouting opponents.

I'd much rather a committee, that actually takes their job seriously and looks at data, not just scores.

All this being said, I have no idea how the tennis committee is formed and what data they look at.

But the March Madness committee and the football committee are comprised of many people, from different regions, and they analyze a ton of data. If you don't like the results, that's fine, but it doesn't mean the committee is a bad way of doing it.

You are 100% wrong for tennis on both accounts

Wait. They don’t use a match point system for rankings like the rest of the tennis world?

Golf and Tennis is a snobby world that which the likes of the Rant has no entrance to. We can only root for our Alum Pros from outside of the Country Club fences. We are the Happy Gilmore forum of country club sports.

Are they still playing at Memphis Friday? If so, I’m gonna go out and support.

Rough estimate, 70% of college tennis players didn’t play at a country club. Likely higher actually

Country club types don’t really make it in the tennis world. A lot different than golf in that instance
