Any of you use trail cams for turkey hunting?

recent article in one of the hunting journals says cameras are underutilized in the sport.

To find out how many longbeards are on a property so that you don't shoot too many, I can see where that would be useful.
To use cameras to aid in killing turkeys is for losers

Y’all have convinced me using trail cams to hunt turkeys is not a good idea

I'm admittedly not the quickest guy around, but I'm starting to pick up that maybe trail cams for turkey hunting is controversial.....

A person can chill at the camp and check his cell cam and see a gobbler (or deer) on it in real time and go out there and shoot it. There is no world where that constitutes “fair chase”.
Most people that do that have Grindr accounts for sure

Last year it rained like hell at daylight, so I sat in the truck and fell asleep. Woke up about an hour later to the familiar “ding” from an incoming cell cam photo
Two big gobblers in a food plot.
Eased in, set up 100 yards away and had one in the truck 30 minutes later.
Got lucky for sure.

I’m sure you’re a fine fella, but I would support a law that punishes this kind of activity if it were possible to enforce such a thing.

What about killing them from a ground blind in a chufa patch while fanning?
Posted on 1/27/26 at 4:15 pm to mikeytig
I use my ears to either hear them going to or coming off the roost.

If I’m king, I allow it, but it counts as 2 toward your bag limit, unless a youth, over 65, or disabled. Not quite as chicken shite as letting your trail camera kill em.

That’s extra gay. Like a MMM three way gay

Can I kill them from a climber? So far they are safe from me, I am 0 for 4 hunts over the past 3 years.

Yep
After hunting them for 50 years, I now only kill a couple each season.
As for my using the trail camera last season, you may have forgotten that I still had to set up beside a tree with nothing but air and opportunity between me and him and had to call him to me on the ground.
I can say it was the only time in all those years I’ve had that happen and used it to my advantage. I’ve never killed one from a ground blind nor fanning and actually made all three of my children kill their first birds with their backs to a tree.
It sucked.
All their friends were sitting in ground blinds on food plots killing them left and right, but I believe they came away from the experience with an understanding of what true wild turkey hunting is and should be.
I’m glad to see someone speak up for the birds here.

The way the Lord intended when he created turkeys.
