Trump’s High-Stakes Bid to Dole Out $100 Billion More in Tax Refunds

WASHINGTON—Republicans and President Trump designed their tax cuts for this moment, creating a refund bonanza that will land in Americans’ bank accounts well ahead of the midterm elections.
The annual tax-filing season that opened Monday will produce a cash surge estimated at $100 billion beyond last year’s $329 billion total, and it is engineered to buoy Republicans’ sagging voter approval. Public confidence in Trump’s economic leadership has slumped, and better-than-expected growth hasn’t overcome Americans’ anxiety about the cost of living and a slowed job market.
quote:
Republicans need the Internal Revenue Service, shrunken by layoffs and retirements, to issue refunds efficiently and answer taxpayers’ questions promptly. They also must make sure voters know why they are getting more money. And even if larger tax refunds pay immediate political dividends, Republicans need to keep that goodwill at the top of Americans’ minds when they go to the polls in November.

Inflation is a b****, but it has steadily decreased since Trump took office. Furthermore, commodities prices, including the cost of gasoline, are dropping. The economic problems we have are more structural in nature.
Cut out the fraud and abuse, however, and people will notice. People don't mind having to live with a budget, but they hate seeing broke dicks go to Congress and become multi-millionaires for doing nothing!

How many tens of billions was given to Somalis? I’ll take a suitcase full of cash and put about half back into the economy. That is where we are.

Agree.
I think we may see more incumbents that usual in Congress get beat. I guess problem is, with a current Republican majority, that might mean some of those seats flipping...unless said GOP incumbent can be primaried by a good, effective challenger.

Inflation is due to the sum total of the debt. Increasing the debt, which this giveaway does, leads to more future inflation.
This is vote buying.

We should be pissed of about this, but we should be livid that health insurance is single handedly destroying middle income America.
But everyone is pissed about stupid shite that does not affect them..

Trump needs to hound the do nothing Recucks in the House to draft a balanced budget amendment along with congressional term limits just so we can watch the DC Uniparty go into full meltdown. We need politicians on the record so they can be retained or rejected.

Well he better keep his good ideas away from Congress or they will DP it.
The guys I work with have 40K-70K in overtime pay,
3K-5K is all that qualifies for a tax exemption.

I've said this my entire adult, tax paying, life. I'm sick of the thieves in Washington getting rich, while I give them 35% of my check.

If you’re good Democrat, you should refuse the tax cut. You need to pay your fair share. Get back at Trump and not take his stinking money.
