Only once has he ever won back to back playoff games.

And today his game management was piss poor.

Based on game flow (12 plays, 12 yds for the Patriots), you 100% have to kick that FG to make it 10-0. Puts all the pressure in the world on Maye being 2 scores down. Then maybe you never have Stidham in such a terrible spot to throw that backward pass as he's being hit. You play the field position game the rest of the way and very likely come out with the victory.

But Payton acted like he had Bo Nix back there today, especially that bizarre 4th and 1 call. Egad.

It sucks for Sean and Denver that Nix didn't play.

He should have taken that chip shot FG early in the game.

Yeah that decision was pre 2009 Sean. The idiot who once ran a reverse on 4th and 2 late in the game. I never heard the Superdome ramps as angry as they were after that game.

he also got lucky to beat Minny in the dome when they had 12 men in the huddle

i mean he had drew brees as his qb for how many years and made 2 meaningful playoff runs

They weren't scoring again even it had been tied in the 2nd half. So this point isn't a factor.

And you know that how? If Lutz makes his second half makes his FG’s they win.

They had 22 yards of offense in the 4th quarter on FIVE possessions. That's how

Those 22 yards were enough to get in FG position. Pats offense stats don’t jump out in second half either.

Well there's your problem! Go ahead and go Lutz about it.

Payton hitched his wagon to him again, knowing the history. So we can definitely put the loss on Payton for going with him, again.

Because everyone knew the snow was coming and once it hit, points were at a premium, so you bank as many as you can prior to that. In other words, you don't turn down field goals.

The real problem is that these coaches are using statistical analysis that they don't understand to make decisions and it's biting them in the butt.

So in other words SP should have kicked the FG instead of going for it early in the game. You just proved my point.

They were only in FG position because NE punted the ball to the 33. They went 3 and out on 4 of those possessions

I missed the rest of the argument, but saw that Lutz making kicks was being said and thought it was funny.

Yes he should have kicked it early, but also he has Lutz as a kicker.

The bitter bitches who feel like they got left at the alter are beyond pathetic. The dude just lost his backup qb in an AFCCG and was in contention. Meanwhile we’re picking in the top 8. He rebuilt the broncos and has them competing for a Super Bowl in his 3rd year and his qb is only in his 3rd year.

Payton’s game management cost the Saints big time in the playoffs. His ego is to enormous to make good decisions in big games. He has continued his poor management in Denver.
