The risk of a partial government shutdown at the end of January grew more likely Saturday after Senate Democrats vowed to block a funding package over a fatal Minneapolis shooting involving federal law enforcement authorities.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) on Saturday evening said that Democrats will block a major government funding package if it includes money for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), calling the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers and Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis “appalling.”

“Democrats will not provide the votes to proceed to the appropriations bill if the DHS funding bill is included,” he warned.

“Democrats sought common sense reforms in the Department of Homeland Security spending bill but because of Republicans’ refusal to stand up to President Trump, the DHS bill is woefully inadequate to rein in the abuses of ICE. I will vote no,” Schumer said.

Schumer’s statement came after liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who is viewed as a potential primary challenger to Schumer in 2028, called on Senate Democrats to block ICE funding.

Trump will have two back-to-back shutdowns on his watch. Unprecedented.
Now that’s #Leadership, I tell ya.

Please explain how this is Trumps fault? Why is it every time the Dems don’t have the power, chaos occurs? Why is it wherever Dems are in power, the rule of law does not exist? Why is it wherever Dems are in power, child predators, anarchists, rapists, thieves, murders and illegals thrive? Your party is the party of destruction and when they lose power, they turn to violences. Y’all hold the country hostage with violence, destruction and murder every single time yall don’t get what you want.

So you support healthcare for illegals and defunding CBP and ICE. Pathetic.

So leadership is?? Letting in any breathing thing from a 3rd world country then giving said illegal unlimited money?? Got it.

The only criticism I can add is why are they bringing them as a package to begin with. The House passed 12 separate funding bills if I recall and the Senate is bundling them into two or three groups for voting purposes.
Why?
Vote every bill individually and pass everything that can be passed then deal with the "controversial" ones individually.
This "all or nothing, poison pill" legislative strategies is one of the major problems with pur shitty government.

And the opposite guys can safely vote no on something for political cover.
