I'm snowed in and slumming round the ot for a little street cred for this thread on the Movie board. Looking for a little action on a Sat Night.

LINK

To me, It's huge and taken a long time to get to this point, but it's the only work that I am allowing released to the public. And for an amateur, I have now stepped up to Producer, and if I get it sold then I will be a Professional. So I am excited to get some feed back. Even if it is from the ot.

WWII Movie... 1 Minute... Let me know... I know you will.

Brother can you spare a dime?

My baw...you want my honest advice?

You need a writer.

I'm sure you've got the gear, the time, and the money, but that told zero story.

I like you. I want to help you. I think you might have potential. But it's so so so rough right now it needs a ton of work. You need it to say something, and right now it says

"WHEEEEEEE!!!! I'M A CRAZY OLD MAN WITH ACCESS TO MILITARY HARDWARE! WHEEEEEEE!"

And I mean that with all due respect. You are better than this. Get a proper writer.

ETA: is there more for context? Because right now it seems like an...unhinged old man hates a guy named Joe and is spitting lead from a prop plane while some GI's walk a cart down a road? I don't know what I'm supposed to think.

It's about pacing. A movie should be poetry in motion. Each scene a stanza that contains an identifiable and necessary part, a gear that turns the next.

A gear spinning on its own it meaningless, but even a well crafted gear, absent of outer context, should at least convey something. This...does not, and it does it badly.

Relax, I don't want to help write his movie. But the man asked for advice.

But what he needs is someone to pace it.

I've written scripts before and done a teaser trailer. Every second needs to be doing something. It needs to set things up. Or else its gonna be crap.

Watch MST3K sometime. TONS of bad movies (now made hilarious.) but what gets me is how much time bad movies spend on shots that do NOTHING. Cars driving up. People walking up. Silent Transitions.

Absolutely amazing work! Rated very high.

I'd be interested in an acting part.

Do you know how to use ChatGPT?

Tell it that you wrote a movie script and that you want it to help you edit and make suggestions to the plot. Feed it the movie script and go from there. If you are a frequent user and its familiar with your interest, how you talk (well.. write) it will suggest things catered to you.

That would be the best way to go about it IMO.

It will when negations for Creative Control and residual sales occur.

I did something.. Even if it was wrong. (Page 3 US Soldier's handbook 1941)

Story.. You betcha... Got 6 years of Story, 3 analysis', and now 4 people involved besides me... But I did that... When everyone said: "That's not how you do it." I see why now.

I feel bad now. This is clearly a passion project and believe me I know and support that, but just from what you've shown...what does it mean? Where does it fit in?

Can you tell us more of the story? Make it make sense.

I hope I haven't offended. I like you as a poster and you have some amazing stuff.

I have no idea what is really going on in that clip. The voice over is poor.

Your posts lead me to believe that you absolutely DOMINATE the weekly writers' circle at the neighborhood brewpub.

It must be draining to have to explain your approach to the novices who show up each week to drink but aren't really committed to the craft.

Probably most of them. I just noticed the small distillery/pub in my neighborhood has a writers' circle.

It's OK my friend. I really can't tell more. or I'd give it away. So I am working on something now to present to the public... and this was a step. I'm personally am way behind schedule... Should have been done long ago.
