The Heralds of Darkness level in Alan Wake 2 is the most impressive thing I’ve seen

Since I don’t know when. The technical mastery is astounding.

I heard that Alan Wake is only playable in about 1/3rd of the game, so I never bothered

So far, it’s about half and half. I really would t let that bother you. I actually prefer the other side of the story. I really dislike the way Remedy does storytelling. At least from Saga’s side of the story, it’s weird but at least a little grounded.

Wake’s side is all dreamland frickery.

But that frickery inches this level which is a mix between a live action music video and the player wandering around a set that fills with bad guys. I cannot describe how well they map what’s happening in the game to the musical video.

Also really good song

LOVE that game. I think I played it for 12+ hours straight when it came out. I really appreciate how the game is both terriying and hilarious at various points

There's a certain Order in Death Stranding 2 that rivals it, but yeah, that's an amazing level. I think my jaw was on the floor for like 5 min as I walked around.

Remedy is great with those kinds of things. There's a section of Control that's especially impressive as well.

I love that section. You feel like such a badass.

I downloaded that song afterwards.

I tried Alan Wake 2 when it was on free trial on PS Plus. I enjoyed the original game a good bit.

Alan Wake 2 felt like a sluggish bloated mess where the developers were far too into sniffing their own farts. I made it to the first boss and noped out.
