Alex is climbing Taipei 101 at 7:00 pm CT tonight on Netflix. The start of the climb will be interesting but it could become a tedious watch pretty quickly. Once you see how he climbs a section, it gets repeated many times until he gets to the top. The idea is that it's dangerous and you might watch a man die live on TV, but in interviews he makes it sound like a fun vacation and there's nothing tough about the climb. "Low risk, high consequences" in Alex-speak.

Update:

The climb was postponed to the same time tomorrow (Saturday) because of weather:

His free solo climb of El Cap is, in my opinion, the greatest human feat ever accomplished. I watched the documentary in theatre my palms sweating the entire time

I would assume there’s going to be some type of delay so if something does go wrong nobody sees him fall to his death on live tv.

Who was the guy who died doing free solo (im sure there’s more than one but this guy was often considered one of the best). There was a doc on him I watched a couple years ago and was fascinating

Not sure who you are referring to. Alex has pointed out that free solo climbers who have died usually did not die while free soloing, or if they did die while free soloing, it wasn't from a hard move, it was from simple mistakes (mental fatigue).

Dean Potter died while BASE jumping.

Dan Osman died doing a rope dive/swing thing (sorta like a bungee jump).

I think Brad Gobright rappelled off the end of his rope.

Ah yeah, that was a great documentary.

And he's another guy who didn't die while specifically doing the dangerous climbing he was known for.

Didn’t those guys actually summit the mountain and then got wiped out by an avalanche on their way down?

Is he going to jump off into a bale of hay after he reaches the top?

Yeah that's what I remember as well, they were on their way down. Just another random avalanche that happens even at ski resorts.

Oh, maybe this was what you heard, original schedule was Saturday in Taipei:

Alex Honnold was slated to attempt a daring ascent of Taipei 101, one of Asia‘s tallest buildings — at 9 a.m. local time in Taipei on Saturday, or 8 p.m. ET on Friday.

Yep glad it got postponed now because I would have missed it lol. On another note re watching this dude climb El Cap is one of the most insane things ever all time. Like part of me wants to believe it wasn’t real

Yeah this will be a cakewalk compared to El Capitan. Can’t say any documentary ever got my blood flowing quite like Free Solo did

Without a doubt. Literally piece of cake for him. I'll watch it though.

It was exceptionally well done. Jimmy Chin is brilliant.

Watch Meru if you haven't.

Alex is being a bit of a ham for the crowd. This is a distraction he's not used to.

These announcers are super annoying.
